ABSTRACT
AIM
To evaluate the effectiveness of the McKenzie method used for management of low back pain with sciatica.
METHODS
For this study, 6 subjects diagnosed with low back pain with sciatica were randomly allocated into two groups. Group A consisted of 3 subjects who were treated with McKenzie method (n=3) and group B consisted of 3 subjects who were treated with conventional physiotherapy approaches (n=3). The duration of treatment for both the groups was 2 weeks at a physiotherapy department. Result outcomes were recorded at the end of treatment session i.e. after 2 weeks. Intensity of pain and disability index were taken as baseline values and at the end of 2-week treatment session.
RESULTS
At the end of treatment session, data analysis showed significant improvement in intensity of pain and disability index in both the groups. However, it was observed that there was higher improvement in VAS score in group A compared to group B. ODI measurements showed a tendency towards a difference in reduction in favor of group A after the final intervention. Group A showed higher improvement compared to group B in short duration of time.
CONCLUSION
McKenzie approach demonstrated significant improvement in low

Patients experience disabilities due to pain and intensity of pain determines the level of disability. Low back pain with sciatica is a disabling health condition with high costs for both individuals and the society. QEP Scripts for Two Recordings – Audio for Musculoskeletal System; “OK, Team! We have a new patient in Room 3B who is being admitted with a progressive (gradual, advancing) decrease in mobility (movement) of his back and legs, and increase in pain located in the lumbosacral (lower back above the tailbone of the spine) area. The patient’s Primary Care Provider has sent along Computed Tomography scans (CT, a rotating x-ray emitter, detailed internal scanner) showing spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spine causing pressure on the nerves and spinal cord causing lower back pain.) and decrease of the normal lordosis (abnormal curvature lower spine, excessive inward curvature of the spine) in the thoracic vertebrae (upper and middle back). Lumbosacral
Group Discussion: Answer to 11.5 Christina Vass Liberty University Group Discussion: Answer to 11.5 11.5- Christina Vass The objective of this essay is to answer question 11.5 posed in chapter 11 of Business Research Methods. The researcher has been given data from a corporation regarding the annual salary of it’s 200 employees (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). The researcher has been asked to depict the data in ratio, interval, ordinal, and nominal form (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). In addition, the researcher has been asked to illustrate the successive loss of data as the presentation changes from ratio to nominal form (Cooper & Schindler, 2014).
We all know that pain is usually one of the major complaint of patients with chronic problems or those recovering post operatively thereby making pain evaluation a fundamental requisite in the outcome assessment during hospital visits. Interpreting the data from a pain assessment scale is not as straightforward as it may seem since the provider must consider the intensity, related disability, duration, and affect to define the pain and its effects on the patient (Williamson & Hoggart, 2005). Pain rating scales are used in the clinical settings to measure pain and these include Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Verbal Rating Scale (VRS), Numerical/numeric Rating Scale (NRS) (Haefeli & Elfering, 2006). Each scale is unique on its own in terms of sensitivity and simplicity that generates data that can be statistically analyzed for audit purposes. The EHR in our hospital utilizes the three rating scales mentioned as part of the pain assessment tool to measure pain that sets the tone for the direction of the type of pain management will .be given to the
The practice of chiropractor is becoming increasingly popular since it is a natural way of treating back pain. You can practically find chiropractors in every nook and corner. The results of the instrument subscale they used was deemed reliable (ranged from .63 to .91) because of comparable consistencies for both the English and Spanish versions. In addition, simultaneous validity was established by reasonable noteworthy parallels with comparable items on the Brief Pain Inventory. Patients in the study recounted “moderate and severe worst pain in the last 24 hours; 38% were undertreated for pain according to the Pain Management Index; and 75% reported non-pharmacologic strategies including family support, prayer, and position change as highly effective in managing
Most people, whether aware of the terminology or not, are familiar with the idea of groupthink. As children it is taught as peer pressure. Peer pressure is defined as the "influence from members of one's peer group" (1). Beginning when kids are very young, it is taught not to fall into peer pressure, but even as small children people struggle with this. Most children, when in trouble for misbehaving, have used the excuse "well everyone else is doing it" and parents often respond by asking their children a question such as, "If everyone else jumped off a bridge would you jump too.
Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) is a renowned role-playing, problem-solving group strategy tabletop game. Unlike traditional board or card games, each round of D&D is distinctive in that it centers around players whose decisions shape and determine its outcome. Participants create fictional personas with unique backgrounds and traits who embark on a fantastical adventure as a group. The mythical party of characters then works together to face obstacles and achieve its goals as outlined and masterminded by the Dungeon Master. Throughout this process, the participants collaborate and negotiate with one another while critical thinking through predicaments and overcoming challenges making it an overall effective tool for group therapy.
So, it is best to have back pain exercises prescribed by a spine specialist. They understand the delicate nature of back injuries more than a general physician with no special training would. If these exercises are done regularly, a person can feel less pain that if they do no exercises at all. Lack of physical movement makes muscles weak, which makes re-injury more
An objection to group treatment is that it could inspire members’ conformity and dependency. Influenced by the pressure from the rest of the group one of the teens could change a healthy behavior or manful opinions due to real or imagined pressure from members, which becomes conformity. On the other hand, groups can foster dependent personality among members. The dependent personality is compliant, passive, suggestible, sensitive to what others want, yielding to other's opinions, needy to have others like us, and generally pleased to be taken care of. Members could become contingent with the therapist or other members interrupting his or her emotions, thus leaving them with little to none effort to do so independently.
Similarly, interest organisations can utilise the concept of venue shopping thus, having an impact on the way decision-makers view a policy. To be more specific, if a policy community is unsuccessful in terms of representing a public policy, then they can seek attention from a different government institution (Cairney, 2012:176). For example, the use of pesticides was deemed harmful to the environment thus, environmental groups eventually succeeded with the support from multiple venues, such as, Congress and state agencies (Baumgartner and Jones 1993:37). In addition to that, interest groups can also use a combination venue shopping and policy images thus, altering the way a policy is formulated. In other words, the increasing concerns of nuclear power led to the creation of interest groups opposing to the dangers of nuclear power as well as that, Congress supported this view (Baumgartner and Jones 1993:79).
Physical therapy is the treatment of disease, injury, or distortion by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery. The goals are to help joints move better and to restore or increase your flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination, and balance. This essay will discuss the extent of agreement that physical therapy is vital to be used as non-surgical treatments by people experiencing back and neck pain from time to time. To begin with, taking physical therapy sessions can regain original capabilities. People whom suffered from severe pain every day, tend to lose some of their abilities in handling their daily activities.
Much discussion is devoted to the literature regarding group work as it remains an integral part of the social work field. Group work is important as “the need to belong is one of the most basic and powerful human needs as well as the most social” (Ashford, & Lecroy, 2008, pg. 140). Group work is found to be an effective intervention and has become a major treatment modality in the mental health services (Knight, 2017; Clements, 2008). This intervention has been found just as effective as an individual intervention (Knight, 2017). Groups have played an instrumental part in transforming how the social work field thinks about the helping process for clients.
