Due to the recent statistics, lung cancer has been known to be increasing twice as much in women than in men. Staying away from tobacco is the most important thing any of us can do to avoid getting lung cancer.There have been many cases of lung cancer as thousands of people are dying annually. Lung cancer would rank among the top 10 fatal cancers in Canada, since many people fail to realize the importance of maintaining a healthy body, most specifically lungs.

Lungs are one of the key organs in our body. Located in the chest cavity, a lung is present on both the left and right side which are further made up of sections called lobes. The lung, due to its spongy and soft physical feature, the ribcage is responsible of framing and of protecting the lungs. The lungs are further developed into the bronchus, bronchioles and alveoli. The purpose of them are to bring oxygen (abbreviated O2), into the body and to then to remove carbon dioxide (abbreviated CO2) for the body. Oxygen is a gas that provides energy to us, while carbon dioxide is known as the waste product. Respiratory failure can also be developed if your lungs can’t remove carbon dioxide from your blood.Causing your body not to function how it usually does .Also when the lungs don't work your blood loses oxygen and starts to build up an excess of waste carbon dioxide.
