STATEMENT OF PURPOSE M.S in CIVIL ENGINEERING “What matters is adding life to years and not years to life” This maxim holds so much meaning and power and has influenced me largely through my learning and progressive years. Evolution has never paused nor will it ever in the future. Evolution continues in all aspects of life. Evolving is reckoned not only in biology terms but also in terms of engineering and construction. I do feel inspired to contribute my part to this So I feel to contribute my part to this ever-evolving construction technology. ENGINEERING COLLEGE, OSMANIA UNIVERSITY, Hyderabad. It is my dream to pursue a undergraduate degree in the stream of civil engineering in this college and my intermediate academic skills and my rank in the qualifying examination had made my dream come true to get a seat in this college. Here the professors have provided their full support to increase my interest in the course work. My first introduction to structural engineering was from the Engineering Mechanics subject which taught me the fundamentals of structural behavior and increased my interest in this field. Design courses like Reinforced cement concrete, Design of steel structures, Theory of structures introduced me to codal provisions and laboratory courses helped me to get strong in theoretical part of the subject. I also equipped with sufficient knowledge in the subjects like Strength of materials, Surveying, Building drawing, Soil mechanics, Construction management and Administration, etc. During my engineering third year I had developed interest in environmental and water resource engineering and done an internship for a period of one month in Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt.Ltd on a project named conservation of lakes in Hyderabad and involved in various activities such as i)Identification of lakes on google earth, topographical sheets. ii)Finalisation of basins for lakes. iii)Full…show more content…
After completing my undergraduate course I joined as a site engineer at Ashoka Builders and working here from the last 1 year on the construction of a residential complex of seven floors. My role here is to check whether the construction is going according to the given drawings and specifications, estimating the costs, supervising the labour. I realized that my undergraduate education had not given me in-depth knowledge in civil engineering field and decided to pursue a master’s degree for my career growth. I would like to be a student at UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD because it is a university which is having a good reputation. One of my professor in my undergraduate college had also suggested me to apply to this university and I am confident that if an opportunity is given to me, I will make a significant mark in my field of study.
