1. Introduction
Recently, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge(HZMB) is nearing completed; however, this project has drawn the public’s attention due to its high cost. The HZMB consists a series of bridges and tunnels that will connect three major cities on Greater Pearl River Delta (GPRD) in China, including Hong Kong, Zhuhai as well as Macao. Although this construction project in ongoing, the expense incurred has already exceeded the budgeted cost. Based on a case analysis of South America, Fellin et al. (2001) point out that improvement of transportation conditions usually occurred together with significant regional impact. In this case, with the construction of HZMB, it will change the transportation network structure and layout of the Greater Pearl River Delta, so that the influence of GPRD on its surrounding area will become much more directly. Furthermore, the development of economy in this area will greatly attract both domestic and foreign investors, which means there will be more investment inflow. As the market in GPRD is becoming competitive, existing enterprises are more likely to be motivated to optimize their business competitiveness. For example, they may try to build closer relationship with foreign companies in order to expand their business; therefore, this trend can improve the international competence of GPRD at the same …show more content…
Firstly, the construction of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is helpful to deepen the economic integration in Greater Pearl River Delta. Secondly, it may also improve the competitiveness of whole GPRD. Thirdly, the impacts include the positive effect on Hong Kong’s leader position in Greater Pearl River Delta. Although this project is still in process, there is a prediction that in the long run the bridge may bring significant influence on the regional economy. And it is hoped that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will lead the economy in Greater Pearl River Delta to a new
Athens and China many appear very different, but I think they are more similar than they appear. In China since it there was a lot of power in the hands of the Emperor some people might expect that the citizens in China had little to do with the government. However like Athens the citizens did take part in the government. China still was supported and involved the people in the government like Athens. Document 2 states “Those who ruled are supported by those who are ruled.”
The bypass system is a positive thing for tourism, because if there were no bypass there would be not as much tourism, which would affect economy of the Gold coast. The bypass means that the beaches are sandy and magnificent which appeals to the tourist, therefore the increase of the amount of people visiting the area means that the local business increases their sales and become more profitable and the economy booms. The impact of tourism due to the bypass affects the environment, because the pollution increases and the crowds increase, there is also an increase of buildings. The social impact of tourisms is that because the bypass is making the beaches nicer, the Gold coast beaches are over packed as well as the streets, restaurants and hotels. Causing the Gold coast to become over populated and not enough room for everyone to live near the beach.
There are many theories of how the first People came to the United States. Before, it was believed that the Bering Strait land bridge theory was the only option for how people came to the Americas. Three theories are the Bering Strait theory, the Pacific Coast theory, and the Solutrean theory. None of these theories may be true and how they actually got here, is still unknown.
1. The only experience that I have had so far that relates to what had happened to Mary Anne Bell was when I had gone to a concert with a few of my friends. At first I was really reluctant because it was my first time going to a concert and I don’t like listening to loud music. But as soon as the music started playing, the bass reverberated through me and the crowd, and everyone was just swept away by the music. Which is some sort of correlation to what had happened to Mary Anne Bell, since she was “fresh out of Cleveland Heights Senior High”, and how “Her pretty blue eyes seemed to glow” (O’ Brien 68), just as I was new to concerts, so was she to the war, and it had completely swept her.
Roads and canals were used by the Yuan for trade and benefitted their economy greatly. Also the military technology invented by the Yuan benefitted their military domination greatly. For example the gunpowder bomb was a weapon of war used that could efficiently kill enemies. While also the Yuan created things for self pleasure and entertainment, like playing cards and dominoes. Though the Yuan dynasty is not known for its innovations during this period.

In the novel Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya, the bridge is a structure that connects the town and Antonio’s home, this symbolizes a connection between the two worlds of danger and safety. The bridge is described as a connection or link to the town and Anaya shows this when he writes, “I took confidence from its song, and wiping my tears from my eyes I raced towards the bridge, the link to the town” (Anaya 59). This quote shows us how the bridge is the structure connecting his home to the town. The town is an unfamiliar place for Antonio, the difference in the town is dangerous for Antonio and the familiarness of his home gives safety. The bridge is not just a literal bridge, but a passageway between to the worlds of safety and danger.
The Great Wall of China—started in 221 BCE during the Qin dynasty, was built to keep the northern invaders from attacking China. This 5,488 miles long wall was built over a 2,000 year period by dynasties that devoted their time in its construction. While it did provide benefits such as protection and spread ideas to other empires, it wasn’t enough to outweigh the costs of money, lives, and isolation from families. Chinese people feared their archenemy—the Xiongnu, thinking that they will conquer China. They decided to build a massive wall to keep them away from taking over, but also wanted to keep a peaceful relationship.
It also shifted China closer to the Silk Road. To add, many may believe that the benefits didn’t outweigh the costs because of the lives that were lost. “If we die, unburied,in the wilds, our corpses will feed the crows.” The Chinese workers lives were lost because while building the Great wall of china some structures had fell upon them leaving them dead. Although many people died during this building the benefits did outweigh the costs because it provided protection, glorified China, and helped the trading system.
The Great Wall of China: Did the Benefits Outweigh the Cost? The Qin and Han dynasty built the notorious wall we know today as The Great Wall of China. Although, The Great Wall of China has many benefits, but it does come with some costs. The benefits of the wall are great I do not think they out weigh the costs.
It was a project that went down into Ancient China's history; full of hardship, hard work, and sometimes, even death. The Great Wall of China was built over a 2,000- year period, and measures to 5,488 miles long. Who were the ones behind the biggest wall in the world? It was the Qin Dynasty (“chin”) and the Han Dynasty. Qin had ruled and lived from 221 until 206 BCE and the Han dynasty from 206 BCE until 220 CE.
The process of globalization, and its impact on economic growth have become the defining influence on the development of modern China. China 's integration into the global economic system has been a multifaceted and complex process, and one that China appears exceptionally eager to embrace. Encompassing domestic policy shifts, engagement with both global and regional institutions, as well as bilateral agreements with various countries, globalization has been an impressively orchestrated process initiated by the very top of the CCP. While advocates of globalization tout the growth of China as proof of its merits, analyzing the actual effects on the ground reveals a much more nuanced reality. Globalization has undoubtedly brought China more wealth and power, but it has also generated a host of other effects, both positive and negative.
It became a symbol of American Pride, was known to be the 8th wonder of the world (K. Burns, 2002). With it came a negative image as well. Some saw it as a negative monument for those who opposed it, based on the lives lost yet for the immigrants who needed an income the bridge was a work opportunity even though the pay and work was not desirable. Yet at the same time the courage and persistence of the American people to strive to complete a dangerous project. For the emerging economy in the area, the bridge was an investment into linking two important cities (D. McCullough, 2016).
