Mahesh Dattani is one of India 's best and most serious contemporary playwrights, writing in English. He is the first playwright in English to be honored with the “Sahitya Akademi Award”. He arise voice through his writings where he saw the vice of the society against the innocent. He brings out the darkness to the light of the world through his words. Most of his plays are discussed about Taboo issues, Gender bias, social discrimination and marginalised area of the society. This paper is a modest attempt to study the gender-based injustice and how the male given preference over the female in an Indian family. The play deals with the emotional separation of two conjoined twins and the manipulation of their family to favour the boy child over the girl child. A good art is written to the lead humanity in a right path. Whenever the society chooses the wrong trail, whenever a race is devastated by another one and where a naive is perturbed, writings are the first thing to stand against these evils. Pointers to Insight I found this short synopsis of Soko Morinaga’s journey a very compelling piece of literature. His main theme being that everyone should live a fulfilling life full of happiness and contentedness is a theme that everyone can agree with. Another theme that can be seen is the idea of a student and sensei being able to trust and respect each other’s capabilities and hold them accountable accordingly.
Ishi the Last Yahi, 1992, directed and produced by Jed Riffe and Pamela Roberts, is a documentary on the life of a native American named Ishi, the timeline from when he was he was captured by white settlers to the time of his death. The film used many pictures, voice recordings and still clips to engage the audience. Ishi’s friends and family were killed by white settlers, disease, and starvation. Before Ishi could die of starvation, he left his home and went to California where he captured and placed into a mental institute. An Anthropologist by the name of Alfred Kroeber from the university of California, went west in search of Native Americans.

The dedication to the production of the film consists of following the life of Dadi and her daughters-in-law showing the viewers the struggles they encounter trying to maintain the traditional ways of living the gender roles that have been developed for generations. In Dadi 's Family, it is clear to see that there is a different role play that women and men play which demonstrates inequality between the different dynamics of gender and power. There are many ways in this film where we see women dependent and subordinate to male authority. To begin with, in the beginning of the film Dadi explains the process of how women are traded off as braids.

But in this paper, I would like to work on the feminist aspect of this play for this aspect, is the one which impressed me more.
