ABSTRACT In this modern era, the competition is increasing at drastic rates and one needs to be accurate in accomplishing the tasks given in given time as well as with quality output. The major area for competition is the industrial sector. Thousands of industries are there amongst which the buyer gets to choose. If one fails to meet up to the requirements, a huge opportunity is lost and the company may incur huge losses. The basic aim of undertaking this industrial defined projects is to evaluate the area where industry needs optimization and increase productivity. Minimization of rejection rate is based on the complete procedure for a particular gear (MODEL CODE-MG007015) manufactured by MAHINDRA GEARS AND TRANSMISSION PVT. LTD. which requires modification by means of manufacturing process, inspection methodology and material handling. …show more content…

Conforming to German specification DIN 7 (soft) to DIN 8/9 (fully finished) class of accuracy. Fig. 1.1 Company Layout 1.2 Introduction to Gears:  Gears are the essential component in any machinery to transmit maximum power from one shaft to another shaft by efficient and effective way without more power losses and sliding unlike belt drives.  Power can be transmitted from one shaft to another shaft, which are having incline, parallel or perpendicular centerline with each other by using different types of gears like spur gear , spiral gear , helical gear etc.  Gears are classified by their tooth and orientation of the centerline of shaft.  The main reasons for rejection of gears are dimensional tolerances, improper surface finish, inadequate strength and/or hardness.
