The Golden Age of Malay Cinema subsequently became known in the 1950s and early 1960s. The first Malay film was produced is not exactly known (Khan, 1997). The actual date of the first film production is uncertain as the beginning of Malay cinema in Singapore has a few publications date in the early 1930s (Khan, 1997). The year was 1933 and an Indian businessman named S.M Chisty to produce a film called Laila Majnun that was convinced by a group headed by B.S Rajhans (Khan, 1997). Rajhans became the first director that direct a Malay film in Singapore with Laila Majnun (Khan, 1997).
