¨ If your don't stand for something, you will fall for anything. ¨ The Civil Rights Movement was an impactful time for America. Whites and blacks did not get along well during this time. Which one had a better philosophy, MLK or Malcolm X? Malcolm X was a realist and MLK was a dreamer. In my opinion, Malcolm X had the better philosophy for the south in the 1900’s. Malcolm was a realist, did anything that was necessary , and was an activist. Malcolm X was a realist. Malcolm saw how the world really was. In document I it talks about how blacks are supposed to be nonviolent but the whites are violent. Also in document K it talks about communication and how it is needed for both sides to get along. Malcolm believes in both sides being taught the same thing. Because of that, both sides will never know how to treat each other. Malcolm X is a realist for those reasons listed above. …show more content…
Malcolm did anything that was necessary because Martin Luther King's dreams didn't happen. In Document K it talks about how he does not favor violence but, he will use it for peace between both sides. In document M it talks about how whites will do anything to put one black in pain. Also, Malcolm hated how both sides treated each other. My evidence proves my point because Malcolm did anything that was needed. With those reasons listed, Malcolm did anything that was necessary. My final reason for why Malcolm X had the better philosophy is that he was an activist. King was a leader unlike Malcolm who was an activist. Malcolm did better than King because Malcolm actually did things to try to change America, King only had dreams about how he wanted it to be. After Martin gave his speeches, nothing different occured. Malcolm X on the other hand changed things little by little.
In document I Malcolm says that whites needed to be taught how blacks were taught. Malcolm was an activist for those
Though there was two, Martin Luther King Jr’s philosophy made the most sense for america during the 1960s because of their views on three topics. Violence, integration and the economy. Both leaders had there own personal views on violence but Martin Luther King Jr’s had the most peaceful and logical views to be used. Malcolm X views of violence were a bit more aggressive.
Everyone knows Martin Luther King Jr. but not everyone knows Malcolm X. Malcolm got into the Civil Rights Movement when his father was killed by a white supremacist group called the Black Legion. Malcolm wanted to do something about it so he started public speaking at a place called the Nation of Islam. Malcolm X did plenty of things for African American human rights that people don’t know about. The points we are going to be focusing are on Malcolm’s youth, human right impact, and how he changed. First, let 's talk about how Malcolm’s father changed Malcolm along with his family.
While controversial, these ideas were deeply principled and reflected Malcolm X's commitment to defending the rights and dignity of African Americans. Martin Luther King Jr., on the other hand, believed in the power of nonviolent resistance as a means of achieving civil rights. King understood that nonviolent resistance could be a slow and difficult process, requiring patience, strategy, and a strong commitment to nonviolence. Which causes him to fall into pragmatism. Iy contrast, Malcolm X's belief of self-defense and the use of violence when necessary was often seen as more confrontational and less pragmatic.
In the book “No Crystal Stair”, many people were motivated by Malcolm X’s philosophy “by any means necessary” more than Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy. The way I see the Civil Rights Movement, society moves forward farther using violence. A nonviolent approach was not a good as a violent approach because violence was the key to the Civil Rights Movement. Also, Lewis Michaux, the main character, supports Malcolm X’s philosophy a little more than Martin Luther King Jr’s. Reasons being that it made the black community more brave, made them grow and fight for what they believe in, and nonviolence lead to death.
Did Martin Luther King Jr have a better philosophy than Malcolm X? Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta Gorgia, he passed an entrance exam to Morehouse University at the age of 15 and studied the beliefs and non-violent tactics of Mahatma Ghandhi. Was Martin Luther King Jr’s Philosophy more effective than Malcolm X’s philosophy? Martin Luther King Jr had the better philosophy because of his economic strategy to slowly achieve racial equality, his ideas on why people should take a non-violent stance as a method of protest, and his drive and dream of better more equal society and education.
He wanted to be able to walk through the journey of life by not fighting, but working together. Document 2 states, “With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to climb up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.” Malcolm X wished for the different races to be segregated from each other. Blacks and whites to be with their own category but still sharing the same rights. Document 3 says, “Let sincere white individuals find all other white people they can who feel as they do and let them form their own all-white groups, to work trying to convert
Although Malcolm X recognized the racial issue during the civil rights movement, he preached his methods in an immoral way by convincing the blacks that the white people are the devils, and they need to rebel against them in order to have equality. If this had happened, Malcolm X would have created an unequal society by causing hatred among the blacks and whites, and the problems would not have been
The fight for equality has been a long and complicated battle. Many people believe that Martin Luther King, Jr. was correct in his approach, but others believe that Malcolm X’s approach was best. Malcolm X believed in the goal of black people separating completely from white people using the method of violence in self-defense. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in the method of reaching equality through desegregation using the method of nonviolent resistance. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in very different viewpoints regarding the solution to the needs of and problems facing the African-American community in the 1960s, but King’s approach was best.
Malcolm X doesn’t show that same attitude as Martin Luther King Jr. Malcolm X fights more for an African-American community that is independent. (doc G). X’s intended focus is having an independent community because he no longer wants to be in boy scouts just for African-Americans to get jobs when they can get a job in his envisioned community.
Malcolm X wanted separate schools which colored kids went to but also created by colored people. Malcolm X did not like the idea of people coming together. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X had very different ideas and opinions. Martin Luther king's philosophy is better because it gives colored kids an opportunity to learn what other kids are
It took the military to allow nine African Americans students to enter a school in a white neighborhood. This is only one event, other events created riots, bombings, discrimination, poverty, and racism. This is why Malcolm X’s philosophy is much better for the sake of time and our nation. Malcolm X
MLK’s “I have a dream” speech promoted the idea of integration. He believed that the races were created equal and that blacks should be respected as American citizens. Malcolm X followed Muslim principles and believed that he would protest “by any means necessary.” He would do whatever needed in order to obtain freedom for African-Americans whether it be violence or nonviolent. Malcolm opposed integration and believed that blacks needed to fend for themselves in the fight against whites.
However, the action should be taken without nonviolence and with peaceful protest. Dr. King’s nonviolent tactic was a success as it bridged the gap between the colored and white people. Malcolm X was renown for his act of self defense throughout the Civil Rights Movement. His main goal was to prove how whites did not treat black people as human beings. However, through Malcolm X’s several tactics, Martin Luther King’s movement was made more impactful and successful.
Introduction: Malcom X urges the Negro community to fight to gain the equal rights they deserve by taking action against their white oppressors. He emphasizes that blacks will gain their rights either thorough voting, with the ballot, or else through the inevitable violence with the bullet. Thesis [part a] Like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., also fighting for the civil rights of black Americans in the 1960s, but in a more peaceful manner, Malcom X takes a different approach.
Martin Luther King Jr said,“We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools”. In the late 1960s, racial tension was high, African Americans were not given the right to vote, the right to a fair education, and the right to a fair judgement. This then led to the separation of schools and the destruction of a normal livelihood. Dr.King and Malcolm X, two men in the face of oppression rose up to challenge the racial barrier, thus changing the world forever. Although Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X seem to have mutual respect and an equal understanding of the inequality, their philosophies were quite different from each other.
