Prior to the 20th Century, the United States of America had yet to become a well-established global power; the United States was undergoing major developments in technology, refinement and overhaul of governing policies, and development of urban centers. In addition to the previously mentioned developments in the United States, there were various new job opportunities, as a result of the rapid urbanization and the need to develop infrastructure, and cheap land offered by the US Government enticed individuals to move from the East Coast and head westwards in hopes of prosperity. Conflict between the free states and the slave states had resulted in an additional increased demand for the settling and statehood of sections of the territories west of the Mississippi River. It would be this conflict for land expansion that would lead to the historical event known as Bleeding Kansas, wherein conflict between activists from both the free and slave states would be so violent that it resulted in a total of more than …show more content…

This set of beliefs influenced the governing policies and decisions that led to Bleeding Kansas, and the establishment and admission of Kansas as a state of the United States of America. Along with this, Manifest Destiny was directly influential upon the speedy urbanization of newly founded towns and cities that were critical to the development of Kansas as a US state. Additionally, Manifest Destiny affected the economics of the American Frontier, as businesses were both created and rapidly grew to handle the massive increase of settlers.
