Cassius in Julius Caesar is shown as a very sneaky character in Act I. He can see people’s hidden motives and develops the plot to assassinate Julius Caesar because Cassius thinks that Julius would abuse his power if he ended up as dictator. He is also very manipulative person as well. This is shown through the manipulation of Brutus in Act I to make Brutus turn against Caesar. Shakespeare presents Cassius as very deceptive, radical, and manipulative person in Act I. Cassius is a very radical person and talks about revolution frequently. For example, the first time the story presents Cassius, you can see his contempt towards Caesar because of Caesar’s hidden motives to becoming a dictator that Cassius says he can see. He talks about how it makes no sense for caesar to be dictator because of his weakness and his intention to abuse the power he will receive from being dictator. Cassius then starts instilling the idea of overthrowing the senate decision and assassinating Caesar into all of his allies heads by persuading them all. He is so revolutionary, he would rather commit suicide than have Caesar become dictator. So, Cassius is the one spearheading the assassination attempt on Caesar. Caesar is also very manipulative towards others. He tries to convince his friends to join his plot to kill Caesar. For example, he makes letters that are addressed from the citizens to Brutus and the letters talk about how Brutus should be the leader of Rome because of his family history and
