Manmohan Singh was born on 26th September, 1932 in Gah in Punjab. He was raised by his paternal grandmother after his mother’s death Amrit Kaur. His family moved to Amritsar in India during the partition in 1947.He studied in Hindu college he was a topper, he completed his BA and master’s in Punjab University and later he completed his Economics Tripos in Cambridge University. After he graduated from Oxford, Lalit Narayan immediately hired him to work as an advisor in Ministry of Foreign Trade. He went back to University Of Oxford in 1960 for the D.Phil. where he was a member of Nuffield College. Manmohan Singh held many government posts during the 70’s and 80’s as a Chief Economist Advisor, Reserve Bank governor and Planning Commission Head.

He is a celebrated economist and rose at the time of the 1991 economic crisis as finance minister. Critics also attacked him as the weakest Prime minister of India. Scams that surfaced during the UPA II brought a big fall to his work who had achieved two tenures of being Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru’s 17 years in office.
Khuswanth Singh stated that Manmohan Singh is the best Prime Minister that India had. Even Forbes magazine shared a similar view about Manmohan Singh that he was the best Prime Minister after Nehru. He was known for his integrity as a leader.
Political opponents such as L.K Advani criticized the former Prime Minister and called him weak and don’t have a genuine political power. His image got washed away after the scandals that surfaced during his second term in 2009.
