For the past three years of marching band, I have worked under innovative leaders that have always reached our common goal: qualify for state finals. So this past year I looked forward to following in their footsteps and make my mark on the band and everyone in it like past seniors did for me. Little did I expect that the marching band season of my senior year would be full of trials and tribulations that was eventually met with hard work and perseverance of myself and my fellow seniors. After the difficult year my fellow students
Throughout my high school career, I was forced into many situations where I was challenged to connect with my peers and serve as a role model for future students. Whether it be my involvement in the school marching band, or helping students in community tutoring sessions, I have always made it my goal to better the people around me through my own efforts. Throughout my high school career, I have put forth my best effort to connect with my peers, transform individuals, and make a difference in my community. Joining the school marching band at the beginning of my freshman year of high school was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I am, as of a December 2015, a third year participating member of the Southern Pride Marching Band here at Georgia Southern University. Music and the performing arts plays a huge role in my life, as it has given me the opportunity to travel and perform at various venues around the country. I have also met most of my closest friends through music, sharing experiences that I will cherish for years to come. Since my freshman year of high school, my skill as a percussionist has continued to grow. This past summer, in fact, I was presented with opportunity to march with Alliance Drum and Bugle Corps.
While I have various interests and talents that have me involved in numerous activities and clubs, the role which best defines me is my involvement with cheerleading. I cheer in High School and on a competitive team at Cheer Athletics which required a significant amount of my childhood to train to reach the highest competitive level. While High School cheer is mostly social, competitive cheer is my passion as it requires significant tumbling, jumping, stunting, and dance related skills that are fine-tuned over many years of training. This hard core training has taught me many important life skills that I believe will allow me to be successful in all aspects of my life. I started competing at Cheer Athletics when I was six years old as I
The History of Marching Band There are many things that have influenced my love for music. However, the most influential of them all would have to be marching band. Marching band has been a major part of my life for 10 years. Marching band has been a way that musicians for many years have portrayed music throughout history.
If I could continue anything i did in high school I would join the michigan marching band. Marching band in high school has been a way for me to meet new people. One of my favorite marching bands for me too watch has always been the Michigan band I would love too take part in it. One of my requirements for school has been a marching band or a pep band and a large marching band like Michigan's would be very preferable. Overall if i could continue anything it would marching band because it is a passion of
There wouldn’t be opportunity for growth in this country without successful graduation rates. The future of our country depends on the scholars that colleges produce. Without a thoroughly educated society, America would hit the floor and relapse into a deep depression. Jobs would disappear because the ones applying for them wouldn’t get accepted because they aren’t qualified. Even though dropout rates rise each year in America, college application rates are also on the rise because graduating high school students understand the importance of attending college.
My Greatest Accomplishment A truly great accomplishment is something that lasts and requires determination and extensive effort. For me, making the Texas Small School All-State Mixed Choir was my biggest accomplishment because it opened me up to new passions, taught me how to work hard, and set me on the path I am on today. In my sophomore year, I joined choir simply to get my fine arts credit out of the way.
Band class is fun. You can pick your own instruments. I play the cymbals and the trombone. You learn songs, it’s a teamwork class, and the concerts are fun. I have been in band class since 6th grade.
Each year, student council has become more complicated but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been in charge of planning a United Services blood drive, the entire homecoming parade, our school 's coronation ceremony for homecoming, the Junior Prom, and I am currently in charge of planning the graduation ceremony. These projects were only the ones I led but I also have assisted in the majority of the initiatives completed by our high school student council. I could not complete these projects without the hard work and dedication of many of my fellow students. I think the hardest part of working on big projects was delegating; I am often worried that if I don’t complete something myself it will not get done.
I will help motivate my peers to take on more community and school service projects. I am not afraid to break out of my comfort zone to benefit those around me. The past two years I have worked to come out of my comfort zone and try new things. This lead me to many clubs and extracurricular activities that I know enjoy.
I had watched patiently as older members of my high school moved on to UGA and were indoctrinated into the finest band in the land. In order to try and achieve this goal I worked tirelessly in High School making the grades to ensure my acceptance to the University. As a French Horn player I was taught to focus and work hard until you achieved your goal, whether this is in band, biology or college acceptances. I used this
It all started at McKinley High School. Kendall Aaron, Carlton Phillips, and Corey Thomas they all was in the band for all 4 years. They enjoyed band and it was their main focus after their grades. McKinley High band was so important to them, they took it serious as it was reflecting their grades. They were so excellent in the band that they were offered 3 scholarships from 3 different schools.
When I was selected to play in the 2015 All-State honor band, my dream transpired. Since the seventh grade I have participated in jazz band along with concert band; I now play in my high school 's most selective jazz band. Humbled by my elite group members, I accept many improvisation solos to express my ideas and find my place among
