Not all heroes wear capes; Mine doesn 't fly or transport to a different place in a blink of an eye. However, my hero does read minds, predict the future and has the ability to be appear whatever she wants. My mother, Maria Valdes de Diaz, is my hero. She is the definition of a true hero for one simple reason; She always thinks about others before herself. Maria might seem like an ordinary mom, but that is just a cover. She is so amazing that I know some people might want to steal her and have her all to themselves. There is a Mexican saying that my mom used to repeat all the time when I was little: "Mas sabe el diablo por viejo que por diablo" which literally means that the devil knows more not for who he is -the devil, but because of his years of experience. It did not make any sense to me at at such a young age. Little by little, it started to click when I got older. For example, when I was in middle school, …show more content…
Sometimes my mom has a way of taking me back to my childhood. She reminds me of Mary Poppins. Like her, my mom carries what it seems to be an “ordinary handbag”, but when someone needs something, even if it is completely random or uncommon, she pulls it out of her bag. A couple of summers ago, my family and I traveled to Europe. We got to eat some delicious food, but not for the reason you might think. Being Mexican means that something spicy needs to go with everything you eat. On our first meal of the trip in Italy, my sisters and I started talking about how we should have brought a bottle of Valentina (a Mexican hot sauce). Not because the food wasn 't great, but it really needed something spicy. When we turned around, my mom pulled out of her little cross body bag a tiny bottle of that incredible hot sauce. We could not believe that she actually carry it with her. Having that bottle made our meals just how we wanted -delicious and spicy. That was one of the many times that I have confirmed that my mom has the superpower of appearing whatever she
Her career kicked off when she was only thirteen. She had performed in a tent in the Plaza San Sebastían, performing with famous comedians. She later went to the United States to study voice, there she went on tour among different states, and became popular with the local Hispanics. During this tour, she had met her first husband, Gabriel Navarro. After suffering a miscarriage, Lucha and
Around the age of 10, she became the lead singer in the band. She was known as the “Queen of Tejano”, a type of Mexican music that sounded like country music. Her family’s band started out playing at weddings and clubs in their native Texas featuring her brother Abraham on the bass guitar, her sister Suzette on drums, and her father being the group’s producer and manager. Selena grew up speaking English, but her father taught her to sing Spanishs so

Sure, I got time The Websters dictionary defines a hero as someone who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Heroes are ordinary people who find the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. They are the real heroes, and so are the families and friends who have stood by them. Maya Angelou stated, “I think a hero is any person really intent on making this world a better place for all people.”
Not only is Selena still being talked about today because of her legacy and the music that she left, but also because of situations like these. Without the concern and curiosity about where the money her family makes from her past-life collaborations, there would be no talk about Selena, meaning that slowly she would stop being a popular topic. As the years go on there will probably more Selena collaborations whether it be makeup or events like Fiesta De Flor. As of this moment there is not a lot of big named artists who are chasing the Tejano Queen name, meaning that Selena still remains #1. Selena Quintanilla’s legacy lives on forever in people’s hearts and in the Tejano
In my opinion, Dorothea Dix fits my definition of a hero because she not only did something to improve the life of one person, she improved the lives of thousands, without worrying about the consequences of her actions. That day when she went to teach Sunday school in East Cambridge, she could have done nothing about the terrible conditions that the prisoners had to endure. She could have chosen to ignore them. But instead, she let her courageous and nurturing ways take over, and she campaigned for the rights of those
Growing up in a Mexican household, the food we ate always had a spice to it. Whether the spice was on the side or already prepared in the food, my food always had a spice to it. My grandma’s favorite signature spice was her Pico De Gallo. Pico de Gallo also called salsa Fresca, is made from chopped tomato, onion, cilantro, fresh Serrano’s (jalapeños or habaneros are used as alternatives), salt, and key lime juice. At first I did not like Pico de Gallo because I couldn’t bear how spicy it was.
Odysseus the Hero Superman may be the first person who comes to mind when thinking of the word hero, but not all superheroes wear capes. This is proven in Homer’s book, The Odyssey with the main character, Odysseus, who showed many heroic acts throughout the book. He was clever, brave, and, loyal, proving he's worthy of being a hero. The definition of a hero, doesn’t depend on how strong someone is, or if they can fly, it’s about courage, and noble qualities.
When the word hero is spoken, many may immediately think of a character like Superman. Superman can fly and has extreme strength, allowing him to help his city. What truly makes Superman a hero is how he puts these skills to use with his outstanding personality qualities. Odysseus, from the Odyssey, also has overlapping traits of a hero. He is not gifted with supernatural capabilities but still put in an effort to help his men and community.
Selena Quintanilla was a very successful “Tex-Mex” singer, who, from the beginning of her life to the end of it, had an extraordinary life. After one time of singing to her father, a band was created and she was put into the singing world. Since that day, many journeys occurred. She has performed in many places like Mexico and Texas. She even got married and won a Grammy.
My Michigan Hero,Nancy Chapman Who is your hero? My hero is my Mom. She has always taught me to work hard at all that you do and never quit. She works two jobs and still has time for me and my brother she runs junior golf tournaments and sells jewellery.
A hero could be anyone. Heroes don’t have to shoot lasers or be able to fly. A hero could be someone who simply shows a great act or certain character trait like bravery or courage. Heroes go through a journey containing a call to adventure, a departure and a return to their homeland. A good example of heroism and heroic acts is David from the Chrysalids and Daniel from The Dangerous Days of Daniel X. David and Daniel experienced sacrifice, hardships and bravery through their journeys of becoming a hero.
What is a hero? To most, it’s probably the classic superhero- the one with superpowers and can fly. To others, it might be a fictional character with a magic wand or a demigod in a prophecy. To some, it might be a real life person- a famous one or the ones who raised you.
Debi Mazar is an actress who stated, “A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tried to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really, deeply cares.” Heroes are relevant to everyone, because at some point, everyone has had a hero. Sadly, today’s society degrades the meaning of the word “hero”. Heroes are an important aspect of life, but famous people are not always heroes.
Either it be physically or emotionally. The hero in your life may be someone who you love and trust and know will always be there for you in a time of need. A hero supports you, and assures you safety. The American heroes, or our soldiers, are great examples. They fight for not only our freedom, but for freedom and protection for their loved ones.
