There are many people in the world who are influential. These people impact the world in a positive way by inspiring people to follow their dreams, stand up for what they believe in, and overcome obstacles in their life. An individual that shows these traits would be Marie Curie, a scientist, that created radium and radioactivity. Marie Curie is influential because of her accomplishments, character, and legacy. There are several accomplishments that made Marie Curie influential. For example one of Marie Curie´s character traits is smartness . I know this because according to notablebiographies.com it said, ”Marie is a brilliant student, gaining a gold medal upon completing her secondary education in 1883.” This quote shows that one of her character traits that made her influential is her smartness. Another example of one of her character traits is kindness. I know this because according to biography.com it said, ”Over the course of the next four years, Curie helped equip and operate more than twenty ambulances (known as “Little Curies”) and hundreds of field hospitals with primitive x-ray machines so as to assist surgeons with the location and removal of shrapnel and bullets from the bodies of wounded soldiers.” This quote shows that another one of Marie Curie 's character traits that made her influential is her kindness because without her generosity and kindness the surgeons would have never got the bullets out of the soldiers. The last example of one of her character traits is brave. Many people are remembered for their influence on history. Looking through the history books you can find an endless list of names that have brought our nation to where it is now. George Washington was the first to lead the nation. Henry Ford revolutionized the factory and helped turn the nation mobile. However, those who worked in the shadows are often not as prominent in the minds of individuals.
She helped aid soldiers and the freed slaves in the Union camps. Dangerous health problems and diseases were common, and many people unfortunately died since they didn’t have the medical knowledge and medicine we have today. Some of the diseases in the camps were typhoid fever, smallpox, measles, diarrhea, pneumonia, and malaria. One night, she searched Maryland woods to find water lilies and crane’s bill (germanium) which would help some people with dysentery, a disease of extreme diarrhea. She boiled them together and gave them to man which saved his life and helped him recover.
A good example of a character is Bertrande. Coras describes Bertrande as “ “given the weakness of sex, (was) easily deceived by the cunning and craftiness of men.” (Davis, pg 110). He (Coras) considered her ignorant of Arnaud 's true identity, hence innocent of wrongdoing.” (Finlay, pg 555) Davis however describes Bertrande as known more as an honorable and independent character who acts more like a hero rather than evil.
The thing that made her stand out at that time was that whilst she was working so much for everyone being equal she also fought for women's rights and their right to vote and for world peace at the same time. This led to her winning (co winning) the nobelprize year 1931 for peace. I think that Jane was an amazing woman who really sat an example for us women how to fight for women's right and equality but on the same time being kind and loving towards everyone and that is why she is my true hero. Clara Barton Throughout the course of human history, nothing we do has ever had as rapid and drastic an effect on history as war. Disasters would be near second place, and coincidentally Clara Barton affected both. Out of a multitude of achievements things, she was a nurse during the Civil War, did many things women of her day could not, and started the American Red Cross. Clara Barton was revolutionary for her influence on society and medicine in American history.
Anybody can think of an inventor that changed the world. The light bulb is still affecting the world to this day but the light bulb is not the only invention that is still changing the world. A lot of great inventions are only around until the technology around them changes so much that they become obsolete. She was not admired for her beauty and her feminine traits at all. In fact, she was plain, awkward and extremely shy as a child. It is important to understand the struggles she faced because they greatly shaped the person she became. She overcame the hardships in her personal path and dedicated her life to helping others.

I aspire to be in the National Honors Junior Society program. I wish to be accepted and it is an honor just to be invited to such a program. I have been looking forward to this program and being accepted shows me that I have achieved my goals to be the best student I can be. It means a lot to me as a student and on a personal basis as well. The whitcomb middle school staff has always encouraged me to R.O.A.R.

Character traits help shape a person into what they are, there are ways to change them and become a better person. In the short story Charles, written by Shirley Jackson, a boy named Charles possessed many different negative character traits in which some include being, obnoxious, dangerous, and disrespectful. Charles displayed immature and unnecessary trouble for all the students and teachers. Being obnoxious means extremely unpleasant and Charles was just that in this short story. Charles possesses the trait obnoxious because all the children in the class were trying to listen to the story while the teacher would be unable to read due to the noise.
These are just a few reasons how my grandmother is not only the most important person in my life but also my hero and changed me to who I am today. A Personality is something people will always remember about you. You could have a funny personality or strict and anything inbetween. If I could give any examples of my personality it would include the words awkward, kind, and forgiving.
