Marilyn was unique in her own way - (being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else) Marilyn had a troubled past. She did modeling at a young which boosted her career in singing and acting. Marilyn Monroe’s birth name was, Norma Jeane Mortenson. She was born June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to Gladys Pearl Baker and Martin Edward Mortensen. She had spent much of her time in foster care and in an orphanage, because of her mentally unstable mother and absent father.

She later said that she had been raped when she was 11 years old. She married her boyfriend Jimmy Dougherty on June 19, 1942, at the age of 16. The couple divorced in 1946 because of long distance.

Funeral/Death
Marilyn died August 5, 1962 from an overdose, she was found face down with a telephone in one hand and next to her was empty bottles of pills for depression. Marilyn Monroe's funeral took place at 1:00pm on August 8, 1962, at the Westwood Village Mortuary Chapel on the grounds of the Westwood.

She left high school at age 15 to pursue her dreams of being an actress (Lucille Ball). Lucille Ball started getting jobs as an actress between the ages of 16-21(Lucille Ball). As a result, Lucille Ball became an actress by pursuing her dreams and being in a lot of successful shows and movies, like one show called “I Love Lucy.”
Etta James was a well known American singer that sang many genres. She sang gospel, blues, R&B, rock and roll, soul and even jazz. James went through a lot and overcame even more things to get to where she was. She started her career at a very young age and then everything began building by itself. James earned everything she had, and made decisions that changed her whole life.
She was so moved by her reception that she wept before her audience. The show was a huge success and marked Baker’s comeback to the stage. In April 1975,to celebrate 50 years since her debut Josephine Baker performed at the Bobino Theater in Paris, in the first of a series of performances celebrating the anniversary. Numerous celebrities were in attendance, including Sophia Loren and Princess Grace of Monaco, who had been a dear friend to Baker for years. Just days later, on April 12, 1975, Baker died in her sleep of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 69.
Selena Quintanilla Perez was a Mexican American singer who was born in Lake Jackson Texas. Selena’s life was filled with music and dancing along with the love from her friends and family. Unfortunately Selena was killed by her fan club manager at the age of 23. Although Selena has died, she still lives on and has impacted people's lives throughout the years. Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was accomplished many things in her life. She was a fashion designer, boutique owner, spokesperson, actress, and probably her most successful endeavor was her music career. Selena was often known as the the Queen of Tejano music. Making herself well known in a genre of music dominated mostly by men. She was arguably one of the most successful women singers to live.
We ask these questions only to be eating the remnants of the past. One great conundrum that remains unknown to this very day, is how did Marilyn Monroe actually die? Many people believe she accidently overdosed, other people say it was a suicide, and the most popular belief is that Marilyn was murdered! These three theories have neither been proven nor has her case been cracked, yet they all seem logical in what happened. Belief number one.

The ‘60s really flowed over into this decade and branched out more extensively than past decades due to the huge steps made by the people. She moved to Hollywood where she signed a one year contract for $125 a week with Ben Lyon in the studio and got the name “Marilyn Monroe” and “ Blonde Bombshell” nicknames. It was then that her career took off.
