To quote the Seton Hall Preparatory School’s student handbook, “it is our belief that one’s external appearance will reflect and also encourage certain internal attitudes that are essential to a Seton Hall Prep student.” Their philosophy presents that one’s first impression of their student will be that they are neat and orderly.
The dress code, and all other rules for that matter, are either forced not at all, or enforced in an unfair manner. After I wrote letter to administration about this, they ignored my respectful suggestions and never brought
Dress codes are a necessary aspect of school, and they help teenagers to focus more in school. Rules for how to dress prevent boys and girls from being distracted by fancy clothing. Often times, girls tend to focus on what other girls are wearing and how other girls may look super attractive or trashy. In addition, boys look at girls who are dressed in very releasing clothing. Whether the person is a boy or girl, both become distracted by revealing or poor clothing.

Throughout Mount Allegro, Mangione repeatedly mentions how his mother reinforced the notion of being able to communicate in a language shared by everyone in the household: “I don’t want to hear anything but Italian in this house . . . I don’t want my children to grow up into babbi who can’t speak the language of their parents” (Mangione 20-21) and “[another] unpopular rule she vigorously reinforced was that we speak no other language at home but that of our parents” (Mangione 49-50). While Mangione stresses the importance of second-generation immigrants being able to speak the language of their parents, a skill learned through descent, whether second-generation immigrants learn and integrate Italian into their daily lives is dependent on their own decisions, as seen through how Luigi’s children “knew so little Sicilian that he was seldom able to converse with them” (Mangione 21). Like bella figura, the enactment of omereta, the oath of silence, and other attitudes towards proper speech are often taught through oral stories told by parents or older relatives. The idea of omereta, passed down due to the older generation’s “lack of faith in the law” (Mangione 185), is the mutual

Having a dress code sends a negative message that a person self-identity doesn 't matter and all that matters is focusing on their education. While that is the ultimate goal, to be successful in life is not to conform but to adapt as well. A majority of jobs in our society allow for one to express themselves by what they wear. Dress code takes away people 's personality that they put in their clothes they wear in everyday

Dress code is very common in places such as offices, workplaces, and schools. Having a dress code in offices and workplaces isn’t a problem because it makes the workers dress appropriate and represent the company. Although people can argue that dress code in schools does the same thing as workplaces and offices, there is a lot of controversy. Dress code and uniform policies in schools hasn’t always been a problem, because clothing used to be simple and plain. As time has gone on, numbers have been dramatically increasing.
The globalization process has lead to shorten of this production cycle across the entire fashion industry to just two weeks. The “on-trend” clothes that were at one point of time only available to thin rich urban fashionistas are now available to a wider audience at a lesser and more affordable price. Long before I came to Florence, Italy, I used to dream about visiting Milan. My reasons for wanting to come to Italy were not simply about Milan being one of the major fashion cities of the world; I wanted to study in Italy because it is the birthplace of so many high-end fashion brands. At the time, however, I knew very little about Florence. But after I arrived in Florence, I realized that I still had much to learn, and felt inspired at being confronted with so many things that I had not imagined or seen before.
I believe there is indeed a need for a dress code for it to be able to maintain an atmosphere conducive for learning. To begin, with many students of different upbringings attending the school, it is crucial to make sure students dress appropriately in an educational environment. Adolescences particularly, dress the most provocative in an effort to fit in and attract the same or opposite sex. By enforcing more professional attire, it would show students of both sexes the appropriate way to dress in an academic setting. In addition, a dress code can contribute to student’s education by showing students how to dress for the working world.
