Seeking your personal partner in life is a privilege that is born of free will and choice. It is of our personal freedom to choose who we will be with for the rest of our lives. What about the thought of your parents picking for your spouse to be? This thought might be absurd and repulsive for some but for others, even if it is against their will, they have to fulfill it because it is a requirement. We know that marrying the one you really love is yet the best things life can offer. But if arranged marriage comes in your way, who would not think twice about the whole situation? To define arranged marriage properly, it is a marital union wherein the bride and groom are selected by the parents or another party. In arranged marriage, the children are given by their parents veto power to who they will or will not marry.

Cases of arranged marriages have been present in the past. It was common during the 18th century. Marriages were typically arranged by parents or even other relatives. It was the norm at that time. Actually, a lot of countries practice arranged marriage. For instance, Pakistan adapted the concept of arranged marriage from India. Another country which is China calls their type of marriage as blind marriage. In this type of setup, negotiations between the parents are made between older members of two families.
