The Port Arthur massacre of late April 1996, still remains clear in every Australian's mind. The worst mass shooting ever committed by a lone gunman in the English-speaking-world, this event resulted in the heavy gun-control laws put in place all across Australia. This indiscriminate killing of innocent men, women and children has seriously affected the Australian way of life. Martin Bryant, aged 28 at the time, killed 35 people and injured 23 using a variety of weapons, including a Colt AR-15 high-powered rifle, and a 12-gauge Daewoo self-loading shotgun.
The massacre was centred on the area of the Port Arthur Historic site, just 1ookm from Hobart. It began on the 28th of April 1996 and ended in the early hours of the 29th. Martin Bryant’s first victim, Noelene Martin, was killed at approximately 11:45 am, all the way through to his last victim, Glenn Pears, at an unknown time during the final confrontation with police. The small area of Tasmania was greatly affected by this tragedy.

He used the money to go on a variety of holidays from 1993 onwards. He also used the money to buy an AR-10 semi-automatic rifle in late 1993 through a newspaper article. In March 1966, while having his gun repaired, he asked about an AR-15 rifle, which he later purchased. He also purchased a 12-gauge Daewoo fully automatic shotgun, sports bag, and large amounts of ammunition in April 1995. A firearms licence was not required in Tasmania at the time to purchase a
Martin cash was Tasmania’s most notorious bushranger. Martin Cash was born on the 11th of October, 1808, in Enniscorthy in County Wexford, Ireland to George and Margret Cash who were a comfortably well off family. Martin achieved a reasonable standard of education with him being able to both read and write. At the age of 18 he fell in love with a girl a year or two younger then him whose name was Mary, his first offence was at the age of 18 for attempted murder after he was flirting with his girlfriend Mary by shooting him in the upper chest after seeing the two lovers through a window. Relatives of Martin made strenuous efforts to have the sentence commuted, but their efforts were no good with him boarding at Cook Harbour onto a ship named
Martin Bryant also known as the Port Arthur mass killer, was born on the 7 th of May 1967 in Tasmania, Australia. He was the first-born child to Carleen and Maurice Bryant. John Brown was an extreme abolitionist who wanted to end slavery. He was involved in the Pottawatomie massacre and helped lead the raid on harpers ferry. John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry was hoped to lead to a massive wave of abolishing slavery. Brown and his man attacked harpers ferry because he hoped to arm the slaves and lead a revolt against the south, because the ship was filled with US arsenal. John Brown thought that by leading a revolt against a US arsenal filled ferry and arming slaves, that he would cause a wave of revolts against pro slavery supporters that would eventually lead to the demise of slavery.
I did a lot of studying about the Massacre that happened at Mountain Meadows. I read an amazing book I would recommend to anyone wanting to know more and it is probably the most unbiased account of the events that occurred. This book is the Massacre at Mountain Meadows by Ronald W. Walker, Richard E. Turley Jr., and Glen M. Leonard and was mentioned in the internet articles I read as a great book for those who want to know more. I also read Blood of the Prophets, Brigham Young and the Massacre at Mountain Meadows by Will Bagley, but I didn’t find this to be as unbiased at describing what happened at Mountain Meadows.
Martin Bryant Martin Bryant was a mass murderer who grew up in Hobart, Tasmania and was the first born child of Maurice and Carleen Bryant. Bryant attended News Town primary school until he was transferred to a special education unit in 1980. Despite only being diagnosed with an intellectual disability after the massacre, Bryant’s parents noticed behavioural abnormalities as early as when Bryant was a toddler. As an adult, Bryant’s behaviour continued to depict that he was disturbed. When his father died from suicide police officers stated that Bryant was not worried and appeared to be excited by the search.
Richard, I did some research on the Sand Creek Massacre and found an article that you might be interested in reading. The article is titled “Sand Creek Massacre: Colorado 's land grab from Native tribes”, written by Gregory Hobbs. This article talks more about this event with details that were not located in the book. In this article it states that most of the dead were women, children, and elderly men. Hobbs, Gregory.
Imagine. More than ninety people singing praises, praying prayers of gratefulness to their God. Imagine the gut-wrenching pain as they cling to every last second together with hearts of gratitude. Could the same group of people, knowingly, be about to be slaughtered? The picture is not only heartbreaking, but it was reality for the Moravian Indians.
On March 5th 1770, British Soldiers shot and killed five colonists and injured 10 of them. The tragic event was nicknamed “The Bloody Massacre”, but the colonists were at fault because they were the ones that provoked the soldiers, they attacked the soldiers, and they created a chaotic scene. First reason why the colonists were at fault is because they are the ones that provoked the soldiers. (Paragraph 2 of page 155 from the book United States History Colonization through Reconstruction written by Michael B. Stoff and James West Davidson) “A crowd gathered…colonists shouted insults.”
Before the Boston massacre we had the Townshend Acts in 1768. Lord Townshend was in charge of raising revenue in a way that wouldn 't upset the colonist. Which in their eyes will be a external tax rather than an internal tax such as the stamp act. They are going to charge for imported and manufactured goods from Great Britain. Such as paper, paint, glass and led.
The Boston massacre Although many historian believe the the Boston Massacre was a murder it is clear that it is an act of self-defense. First, the situation was self-defense because Preston was trying to get the sentry to safety when they got surrounded by armed and drunken citizens. The soldiers were defending themselves because they were unable to escape with their backs against the custom house and faced an angry mob. Secondly, the solders’ fire was eight to six seconds between them. this shows that the solders fired on there own accord because usually they all fire at the same time when following orders.
He stated this after the Port Arthur Massacre, an incident in which a gunman killed 35 people in Port Arthur, Australia. The incident was so brutal that it led to Australia completely changing their gun control laws. Since the change in gun control laws, Australia has had very few mass murders, the largest being the Sydney hostage crisis in 2014 in which 3 people were shot in a terrorist attack in Sydney, Australia. Some people feel that the reason that Congress has not been passing gun control laws is due to the fact that the NRA donates millions of dollars each year to Republican lawmakers in
The Sand Creek Massacre was a horrendous historical event. It took place on November 29, 1864, in Colorado. The people who initiated the murder were a militia led by Colonel John Chivington. Not only were 150 to 200 Natives killed, but they were also brutally tortured by the soldiers. Captain Silas Soule and officer Joseph Cramer had held their men back from taking part in the bloodshed.
The Boston Massacre occurred in 1780, six colonists were shot and killed by British Soldiers. Adams successfully defended these soldiers in court, although it was the unpopular view of the colonists. In 1774 Adams was chosen as a delegate to attend the First Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia. During this meeting Adams played a leading role in convincing the congress to strive to declare independence. After this first meeting of congress Adams was elected once again to participate in the Second Continental Congress in 1775.
It included a temporary buyback program for all guns in Australia. Over about 2 months, they had bought back about 650,000 firearms. Now in Australia, there is a specific process to go through to even be considered for owning a gun. Here’s how it goes: 1: Fill out a very long pocket full of many questions. (Usually takes about 4 hours to complete) 2: Go through a background check 3:
