Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Dr. King was a prominent leader in the civil rights movement. He led several marches, sit-ins, and demonstrations to promote equality for all mankind. Dr. King is a great example of a leader.
There are many characteristics that a leader must possess such as confidence, communication, commitment, flexibility, creativity, the ability to take responsibility, the ability to inspire, and the ability to manage failure. Of these characteristics, I value the communication characteristic, the ability to inspire, and the ability to manage failure.
