Maryland Park Service opportunity Wayne Wilson Career and Professional Development II Frostburg State University As I get closer to graduation I am deciding on what my goals and objectives are when I graduate from college. I am majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in General management. In the past I have been involved in peer tutoring and took part in activities with Phi Theta Kappa. I have also volunteered for the Allegany County animal shelter and local volunteer fire companies. I also have had two years of work experience with the Maryland Park Service as a seasonal ranger. With these skills I have gathered there are numerous fields to go into with my skillset. I decided that I want to continue to build my career with …show more content…
As a result the state of Maryland created a new agency called the Board of Forestry to protect Swallow Falls and other areas throughout Maryland. Throughout the coming decades this agency combined and divided into different agencies and went through many different names. Recently in 2004 the Maryland Park Service received its current name when the secretary of Natural Resources divided the Forest and Park service (Maryland State Archives 2015). The Maryland Park Service main office is located in Annapolis at the Tawes State Office building. The Maryland Park service agency is part of the Department of Natural Resources and the secretary of the entire agency is Mark Belton. The deputy secretary is Frank Dawson III and under them are the superintendents of the Maryland Park Service. This includes the Head Superintendent Nita Settina and the assistant Superintendent Lt. Col. Christopher Bushman (Maryland State Archives 2015). Then under them are 6 regional superintendents and the Western Region Superintendent is Lt. They offer very diverse parks which range from locations in the mountains of Western Maryland to the Atlantic Ocean. They offer areas for people to camp, hike, and the opportunity to learn. They offer many programs for children like scales and tails where kids learn about various different animals (2014 Maryland Parks Guide). The job I am very interested in is having the opportunity of becoming a park ranger and moving into a management position at one of the 66 state parks across the state of Maryland. There are some basic requirements to become a park ranger which includes having a bachelor’s degree preferably in business or science. Also one year of experience in supervisory or forest work are needed to be hired. A person can substitute work experience in place of the college education requirement (Maryland Park Service Career Opportunities). My experience as a seasonal ranger will become a valuable tool as I continue to gather experience. The jobs that a park ranger performs are overseeing the operations of the park. They help manage and protect the resources of the park, and they help maintain a budget and supervise seasonal employees. That is one of the main issues the Maryland Park service will be contending within the coming years with changes that are starting to come with the cutting of seasonal employees. The starting salary of a ranger is close to $34,000 per year and it comes
This was done for three reasons: Technology, most of the ranger districts were seen as isolated geographically. Sociological isolation. Organizational culture, the district ranger was the boss or leader of his
Famous American writer Marsha Sinetar once said “Life’s up and downs provide windows of opportunity to determine your values and goals. Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build the life you want.” Marsha, as well as many other people understand that throughout life, we are constantly going to be setting, striving for, and achieving goals everyday. They may be as simple as waking up on time, or as difficult as becoming the next president of the United States. While working towards any objective, you will receive help, hindrance, and develop different game plans for individual situations.

There are many different counseling strategies that we have covered so far in class, some are a review and others are new to me. One skill in particular that I had practiced before in Interpersonal class is reflective listening—such as asking clarifying questions, reflecting content, reflecting meaning, and building rapport with a client. I was introduced to these skills and used them in my daily life before enrolling this class; however, the instruction in PSYC 4030 has assisted me in finding ways to make these skills seem less robotic and more natural. I also have enjoyed learning about other skills such as self-disclosure. I am still not sure how to use this effectively in role-plays (especially because my life experience is limited due to my age), but I am sure that this particular technique will prove useful later in my profession to assure clients certain behaviors are “normal.”
To enhance my experience I would like to work with veterans, adult homeless, and the mentally ill. My objective is to be admitted into the Master of Science degree program with an option in Rehabilitation Counseling, where I can grow and take on new challenges. Ultimately, I would like to assume further educational and gain work experience that would allow me to work more effectively with people with disabilities. Most importantly, I would like to work for an agency where I can build a career in counseling and possibly management. I am driven to be the best at what I do.
Once I graduate, my professional goals hold true to what I came to college for. I am majoring in elementary education with a middle level endorsement in math and science. I hope to start my career at either an elementary or middle school. One aspect of children 's development that led me to my passion is social and emotional learning. This process teaches self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.

Write a statement providing information concerning your educational goals and objectives while attending UT Arlington. Discuss your plans for using your education to achieve your personal and professional goals. Goals were introduced to me in the eighth grade, and ever since I have created an immense amount of goals that I have achieved or plan to achieve in the near future. Going into UT Arlington in the Fall I have created two-goals: 1) Through these years I have used time management and backward planning to get me through high school, because I have more freedom it doesn 't mean I have to slack but to push myself to do what is right in achieving my bachelor’s degree and maintaining my GPA at a 3.75 or higher. 2) With the freedom granted in college, I need to make wise decisions
Receiving education is one of the most important and valued things in my life. Since my youth, I’ve dedicated myself to prospering in school, both academically and socially. I pride myself in the fact that grasping concepts in nearly every subject comes naturally to me, and while I do struggle sometimes, I never lose that drive to learn. I don’t think I ever will, either.

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work,” a quote from Colin Powell, a retired four-star general of the United States Army. This quote means that your dreams do not just happen because you want them to. You must work hard in order to achieve your life goals. The American Dream is the goal to have a family and steady job. Students can obtain this dream through working hard in school and on their standardized tests.
Life hasn’t been a smooth ride for me, but my hard work, determination, and enthusiasm for school has gotten me through hard times and brought me to the University of North Florida where I aspire to finish my education and pursue my dreams. My life began 20 years ago in Tirana, Albania which is a little country in Europe that is rich in nature and beauty, but unfortunately for many of the people that live there, poverty is a normal way of life. I was one of the lucky ones who never had to struggle through life with the pains of an empty stomach or hard labor. My parents were doing well for themselves when I was born.
As a senior in high school, I was asked consecutively about my plans for the future. What are your goals? Are you attending college? What career are you seeking? My answer to this question, was uncertain.
