Materials management is the process by which an organization is supplied with the goods and services that is needed to accomplish the objectives of buying, storage and movement of materials. Its functions include planning, procuring, storing and providing the suitable material.
In today’s world it is not enough for the material management to see to the flow of materials alone but to investigate if the flow of material is efficient or wasteful, get where the waste is, and make necessary amendments to remove the waste.
It is important to evaluate the time it takes the material to flow in/out to the customer and document the cost in a simple measurable terms.
Material management no longer process the task involve in material flow, but lead other to see the wastes in the task so that they can eliminate it.
8. DELEGATION
Delegation is one of the most important management skill. This can be said that it is when someone with superior authority confers upon another person the power to do a particular task. That is when power is confers from a person who has authority to another person to carry out some specific assignments. Meanwhile ultimate responsibility for task completion usually remains the responsibility of the person who delegated the authority to complete it. For example, when the medical director delegates a task to any nurse, the medical director still responsible for making sure that task is accomplished.
