Although, most of the researches and policymakers have identified drawbacks in employment law, it seems the concentration towards the female employees is less. Further, to improve maternity benefits laws for SriLankan female employees in private sector , existing law is not sufficient as it fails to address on their rights, social security and job satisfaction. Few of the authorities have recently identified that there is a limited protection for female employees regarding maternity benefits under existing law.
It can be assumed that the contribution of female employees in private sector is a remarkable episode for the economic development of the country. Consequently, this will lead to the national development. For that, the enrichment of social security is necessary. It can be performed in private sector by firming up the existing law on maternity benefits. Releasing such a woman from night work, injurious work and overtime work help to ensure her social security in the work place.
