The 21st century skills which are categorized into learning, literacy, and life skills are critically important in today’s world. The relevance of learning these sets of abilities and skills are what students need to develop in order to succeed in this information-based economy. The students also need to have these skills to think deeply about issues, to solve problems creatively, to work in teams, to communicate thoughts and ideas clearly, to learn ever-changing technologies, and to deal with a bulk of information. Arming these young people with these skills makes them face the rapid changes and challenges in the academe and the society.

This is necessary to solve their own problems, which eventually will assist them to build self composure, as well as self esteem and self confidence. They are helped to develop a dynamic personality and smart mind so they can flourish very well in their classroom by scoring better grades and marks. Mathematical skills also help them confront any type of problems or obstacles that they come across in the society.
To achieve such skills, the role of educators is imperative as stressed by Hodgen and Marks (2013). The educators are one of the key instruments in implementing the mathematics curriculum as this provides opportunity for students to willingly engage with assigned tasks for them to use mathematical concepts and knowledge.
