It was a warm and sunny morning during August, it was only the first week of school at McDole Elementary, I was in 1st grade. Mrs.Olma my teacher was walking us back from a bathroom break. Eventually when we were in the classroom she told us to sit down because she had something very important to say to the whole class. She made sure everyone in the classroom was paying attention to her. "There is supposed to be a fire drill today about now," Mrs.Olma explained. I was shocked because normally when it is a day like it was that day, the school doesn't do fire drills. The school also normally gives the teacher more warning about a fire drill so that they can plan their day around the fire drill. Our teacher Mrs.Olma usually tells our class as soon as she finds out, but not that time apparently. She must have forgoten until now when she actually explained it to us. …show more content…
Of course Mrs.Olma completely ignored, she normally does when she doesn't agree with my question, or thinks it is point less. the fire alarms went off, and as soon as the fire alarms off I jumped a foot over the sound because I don't like the sound of the fire alarms at all, no one does. After a few seconds we got out of our chairs and started heading outide. Then all of a sudden "BANG" I face planted on the floor. The floor was so rough and cold, it was very
There were strikes held two years before the fire occurred to demand a higher pay and less hours. The Triangle Shirtwaist was one of few companies who resisted and paid off certain people to look the other way. On a Saturday afternoon, March 25th, 600 workers were at the factory when the fire began in a rag bin. The manager tried to put it out but it wasn't successful. As the fire grew so did panic.
In the Trial by Fire it displayed the investigation, conviction, and events leading up to the execution of Cameron Todd Willingham. Two days before Christmas a fire broke out at the Willingham home in Corsicana, Texas. In the blaze, Willingham’s three daughters didn’t make it out. Police and fire investigators concluded that Willingham had started the fire in his home in attempt to kill his three children. Since Willingham was assigned a court appointed lawyer who was also a former state trooper.
This event took place while most of the class was sitting quietly waiting for the teacher to give them directions about their next
It was the afternoon, and my class was sitting down while my teacher, Mrs. Curtin, was speaking to the class. I was in fifth grade at the time, and my school was named Kaneland John Shields. My teacher told my class we were going to a pep rally assembly in a few minutes. Mrs. Curtin commented that we should pack our backpacks, the assembly was supposed to last through the rest of the day. Grade by grade, everyone was called to go to the gym.
Firefighters who arrived to quell the blaze were met with jeers. Their hoses were cut. Though they returned quickly with heavy police protection, the building burned to the ground. And the following Monday at Kent State University the
As a current student at Ridge Fire Academy, I have learned so much about myself and what it takes to become a Fire Fighter. The instructors have taught us and informed us on how dangerous this job may really be. From the stories of their past experiences, to scars they have received, it is apparent that danger may be present at anytime. The unfortunate story of Lieutenant John Mickel and FireFighter Dallas Begg is a testimony to that concept which should always be remembered as a learning tool in the firefighting world. May they never be forgotten.
At first I thought the whole thing was fake in my head and didn’t believe it so I just went on with my day. Last block came about and that was my only normal class of the day believe it or not. Then I went home and nothing really happened after that. Then Friday came along, students were still goin crazy and I didn’t know what to think about that.
“Hello children,” said a voice behind them. “Yay,” they shouted as they looked at the yard duty with the smile of a winner. Yep everything was great, but a student was making another student 's life a little unusual and that is where our story begins. “Mia,” shouted someone it was Lainey.
“Are you okay? I heard what happened.” I stare at my phone waiting for an answer. All of a sudden the principal of the middle school speaks through the intercom, “Teachers, we are on a lockdown. All doors must remain locked and students may not leave the classroom for any reason.
On August 8, 2012 it was my first day of school at McEwen High School. I was very nervous and scared. The school was very small and everyone knew each other. A new student was a big deal, they want to know all your business.
Throughout the story, the narrator makes statements such as, “There was not a sound in the classroom, except for Miss Ferenczi’s voice, and Donna DeShano’s coughing. No one even went to the bathroom” (Baxter 140). The children are interested and engaged in hearing what she has to say. The fourth graders value the idea that Miss Ferenczi is trying to impart: that learning can be fun and
Since I was a little kid I grew up in Mexico a Spanish speaking country where I had lots of friends, and felt happy thinking that my life would never change. But as soon as I turned nine I was facing a different story. When I arrived home from school, my parents told me that we were moving to a new country. I felt sad at first because moving to a new country where they didn't speak my language, and not knowing anybody was tough for me. It meant I was leaving behind everything I worked so hard to accomplish to move to a new place that I needed to start from zero.
I started doing my field Experience in Lime Kiln Elementary school where I shadowed Mr. Mikalov, a fifth grade teacher, When I first walked into his classroom it was so colorful and full of artworks, student works and inspirational quotes I felt happy walking into his classroom so I would imagine what a fifth grader would feel like. Mr.Mikalov was very generous in showing me around the classroom where they have their group work, reading area on the rug. He showed me the schedule they follow every week, they do math every day from 12:13 to 12:55 and have lunch every day at 11:26- 12:08 and off course I took a picture of it to know when and what they are doing that time. Mr.Mikalov introduced me to the principal who is very nice and welcomed
There was a bunch of challenges that Aimee Mullins faced but one of them was her teacher. The teacher tries to stop Aimee from returning to class by saying that she would be a distraction to the other students in the class. Aimee Mullins sas, “But my teacher had a different idea about that. She tried to prevent me from returning to class … and said that I would be a distraction to the other students.” (para.
While there is nothing wrong with wanting to remember a fire victory involving subduing a difficult blaze, it does show what we value in the fire service—facing the danger, instead of working to prevent it (Byrne,
