The meaning of life has always been a dilemma and continues to be one. Hamlet’s famous dilemma will never get lost as it is definitely a fundamental dilemma now-a-days. In today’s society human life is always in search of what it means to be or not to be. This question is constantly being asked, be it from the idea of where Hamlet meant it as to live or to die. One can see this as a question of to be part of something or not to be part of something; to be part of the in crowd or not to be. The meaning of life is intertwined with so many other aspects in our daily routine, whether it is in the friends we have, social media, and or in our family. We, as individuals, give our life a meaning and the choices we make and the efforts we put into
Why are here? What is the meaning of our lives? Are they futile? Such questions have been pondered upon ever since people were capable of intelligent thinking. Many schools of philosophical thought have tried to answer them, each in their own ways. Most of these philosophy sects have tried to explain, from their perspective, what the point of existence is. The Atzecs said that the ultimate meaning in life was to live a perfectly balanced life between nature and humans, and to allow ‘energy’ to flow from generation to generation. On the other hand, the Tibetans have said that the goal of existence is to end all suffering. In Station Eleven, by Emily Rand, characters struggle to find a common ground on why they are living. While for some, living is simply survival, for others, such as Kirsten, living needs to be more. In the post-apocalyptic wasteland presented in Station Eleven, and in general, I think that the very point of life is to find that common ground between you and others.

What is are purpose of being here on this Earth? That question has been asked by so many, but there hasn’t been a clear answer as to why are we are here. According to the bible it states, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Religion throughout history has been the root cause of most major issues and has an impact on everyone’s lives. The different interpretation of religion has been the primary cause of equal right issues and has even continued in today’s society. The fight for true equality has always been a struggle, but we must understand that this can only be achieved through unity and acceptance of one another, that must start by the government actively taking a stand on a corrupt system
According to Hinduism, the meaning of life is to achieve Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. Dharma means to act virtuously and righteously. It also means to act morally and ethically in your life. However, since Hindus believe that they are born in debt to the Gods and other human beings, dharma calls for Hindus to repay this debt. The five different debts are: debt to the Gods, debt to parents and teachers, debt to guests, debt to other human beings, and debt to all other living things. The second meaning of life is Artha. Artha refers to the pursuit of wealth and prosperity in life. It is greatly stressed that one must stay within the bounds of dharma while pursuing this wealth and prosperity. The third purpose of a Hindu’s life is to seek Kama. Kama can be described as obtaining enjoyment in life. The final meaning of life according to Hinduism is Moksha or enlightenment. Moksha is the most difficult meaning of life to achieve, and rarely it may only take an individual just one lifetime to accomplish but it usually takes several. Although it is one of the most difficult to achieve, it is considered the most important meaning of life and offers many rewards such as liberation from reincarnation, self-realization, enlightenment, or unity with God. Life is a very precious thing to have. Every person begins his or her life new, innocent, and curious. As people grow up, they gain a lot of experiences and knowledge, which may or may not be useful to them when they reach early adulthood and start living in the “real world.” Whether it be good or bad, these experiences help tell the story, more specifically the life, of an individual. At one point in every person’s life, there comes a time for reminiscence of these experiences, but why do we have these experiences in the first place? Why do we exist? Does it have any meaning or purpose? The movie Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life attempts to answer these questions and express these meanings and purposes of life by touching mainly on two
“The deep truth is that our human suffering need not be an obstacle to the joy and peace we so desire, but can become, instead, the means to it. The great secret of the spiritual life, the life of the Beloved Sons and daughters of God, is that everything we live, be it gladness or sadness, joy or pain, health or illness, can all be part of the journey toward the full realization of our humanity”
I remember when I was little girl and I would always ask myself what the meaning of life is and is they’re really a god. But I was never able to answer my own questions until now. I was born and raised in a Christian household and we was taught never to ask questions of that of nature or doubt our faith. The world is the way it is because that is how god made it. I’m quite religious, so I tend to find meaning in life through service and allegiance to god. We all have our personal thoughts and view of philosophy of life.
What is the value of life? To me the value of life is cherishing every moment that comes to me. To make sure with every experience to take it to heart and learn some kind of lesson out of it. life is like a mountain, at certain points throughout the climb it is going to be really tough mentally and emotionally. Other times it’s going to be so easy fun and smoothe until… one hits that bump in the road again. We may think to ourselves the only option is to give up, to stop the climb and lose all complete motivation to continue. That’s when the friends and family are there to help us, to pick us up, and to help motivate us to continue the climb.
