Teenagers follow a range of different examples living their lives, most of which are based on media influence. People and trends on the internet, the television and on social media dictate how we see ourselves and the rest of the world. Even our relationships and social interactions are based off the things we see others do, no matter how unrealistic or unintelligible.

Different kinds of media affect teenagers’ lives, ranging from TV series, movies, internet forums, celebrity gossip and social media to music, gaming and even porn sites. It is because, at this age teenagers are curious and hungry for knowledge, that the influences that affect us are so high in number and wide in range.
We let TV dramas and celebrity romances dictate our love lives, we let celebrities and popular fashion dictate our image, we even let gender stereotypes from movies, books and music limit us. For many of us, this is where we first learn and experience romantic relationships. There is a wealth of information being presented non-stop and we tend to be more at ease with who we are and expressing ourselves online. Easy-going relationships like those formed online are very desirable, but it gives us a taste of relationships that isn’t reliable.
