My love of the healthcare world began at very early age. I was always so fascinated by how the human body worked and the healthcare workers who would fix it when it broke. when I was about 5 years old and saw a toy doctors kit and knew I had to have it. Hours spent honing my doctoring skills with my favorite doll as my star patient. Even after over a decade in the medical field that love and curiosity for medicine never wavered. As a Certified Medical Assistant, I have worked to nurture my career in an array of clinical settings. Adhering to not only the clinical but also the administrate side of practices such as Geriatrics, General Surgery, and Pediatrics. In addition to my medical clinical skills I have also garnered psychological education
Dr. Sharon My responsibilities as a Medical Assistant include, but are not limited to, answering phone calls, organizing medical documents and equipment, logging patient history and insurance information, assisting the Doctor in daily activities, displaying Patient X- Rays/MRI results to on duty MD, and maintaining medical supplies. Working for Dr. Sharon has enabled me to further develop my passion to pursue a degree in medicine. Dr. Sharon has set a great example on what it really means to be an exceptional doctor. The way he cares and treats his patients is admirable.
From the Resident Assistant position I hope to learn management skills, a proper balance of order and fun, and better leadership skills. First of all, I feel management skills will have to be learned while being a Resident Assistant because of the amount of duties I would be responsible for. Not only must I watch over an entire floor of girls, but I also need to attend meetings, keep paperwork, and report and listen to those ranked above me. In a lifetime, it is important to have management skills if you want to be promoted through careers. I believe the perfect time to start learning this is now.
Andi Wallick Personal Statement Indiana University School of Medicine Degree Objective: M.S. Pathologists’ Assistant My interest in pathology dates back to high school. I enjoyed most sciences but especially sciences about the body. I knew then that I wanted to work in the field of pathology.
Resident Assistants serve many purposes and play many roles in the community. They help to build and promote a supportive and active community within their residence hall and across the campus, and offer support and guidance to their residents. This aids in making Geneseo feel more like home and a community rather than simply a school. RAs enforce Geneseo and Department of Student Life rules, while also being a more easily accessible and less intimidating resource to other students in need of help. I want to be an RA so that I can become more involved in the Geneseo community in a positive way, by helping and representing other students.
Through my studies of human expression and its reflection of how people deal with world events in different ways, I developed sensitivity to other worldviews that continues to prove useful through my daily interactions with people of different backgrounds. I have learned that just like art, medicine involves pattern recognition and derives insight from experiences. Similarly, what I especially enjoy about being a medical assistant is interacting with patients on a daily basis and getting to be a part of their medical experiences, even if it is just by lending an ear. The experiences on my path to a career in medicine have made me want to make a real, tangible difference in the lives of those around me – a difference that leaves my patients in a better condition than they were in before I met them.
A physician assistant works to treat patients by performing exams, analyzing medical history, and developing a treatment plan. They work closely with doctors and other middle-level practitioners in order to do what’s best for their patients. PAs can also order and interpret patient’s tests, and assist in surgery. One important aspect of a PA is they are caretakers. If patients are ill or in need of help PAs are able to help every step of the way and provide not only medical, but emotional support.
I am very interested in the position with the Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP). Although I have focused on foreclosure-related issues for the last four years, I have a BA in Psychology, I have worked in nursing homes and mental health facilities, I was a certified teacher in Behavioral Science, and interned at a children’s psychiatric facility. I believe those experiences, as well as my dedication to providing legal services to low-income people, provide a good foundation for working with patients, families, and medical providers with the MLP. I have a deep understanding of the civil legal needs of low-income people. I spent six years working on the CLEAR*Sr hotline.
Ever since I can remember, I have had an interest in science. As a young child, I read anatomy books to learn about human physiology in my pastime. As I grew older, I watched instructional videos of procedures that physicians perform on patients that I used as an educational tool. The books and videos fascinated and motivated me to pursue a career in medicine. The thought of me becoming a doctor and attending to the needs of others is gratifying.

Social work is a career that I have recently become interested in pursuing. I spent many years with misconceptions concerning the sector. However, following three years of working close by these experts, I have picked up a more profound comprehension of the significance of the work. I am especially interested in working in child welfare along with terminally ill children. I have got to a stage in my career where I have started to search out instruction that will make me more efficient in creating plans and providing services for vulnerable people.
Growing up with two parents who work in the healthcare field, you become saturated with it. Healthcare becomes a focus of dinner conversations reflecting the entire spectrum of the patient-provider relationship from funny stories to intense life-threatening moments. At times, this environment can push children towards trying new and unique experiences. For me this was the case. After having an opportunity to teach overseas for three months, life began to push me towards a vocation change.
Health and social care is something that I have always been passionate about. Because I have studied health and social care for the last four years I have regularly met a lot of the most vulnerable members of society through past work experiences. Through past placements I have worked with children who have special needs. This helped me develop ways of communicating with the children this could be through sign language. Because my Aunt is deaf I have taught myself basic sign language in order to communicate with her effectively.

You see my life has always had to do with things medical. When I was about three years old all I would watch on television was thing about fire and rescue. The books I liked my mom to read had firefighters, paramedics and doctors in them. The match box cars I placed with consisted all of emergency vehicles.
My goal is to pursue a career where I can utilize my diverse skills. In studying Health Administration, it would allow me to become healthcare provider who not only understands the concepts of finance management but also aware of medical law.
