The Mediterranean diet has been around for years. There is not an exact date from when it dates back but the World Health Organization (WHO) pinpoints it back to 1960’s.The Mediterranean diet follows back around the Mediterranean Sea in the Greek religion. The WHO calculated the life expectancy in the 1960’s between 30-32 years old but in the Greek religion it was higher, 45 years older. There is an inadequate amount of information that dates back to the ancient Bronze Age to show proof of their dietary intake. Recorded are food-related art, pottery, apparatuses and inscribed tablets surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. Vegetables can also contribute to valuable nutrients to an individual. In addition, fruit are plentiful in the Mediterranean diet. This is because when this diet came about in the Mediterranean region there were plenty of first for people to consume as a natural sugar. Fruit carry natural sugars verses juices that have additive sugars such fructose. But in the early civilizations,Standage has thought me that food drew everything together. Food wasn’t there just to eat,but was the driving force for the life style of civilizations.

Back then, people had a concrete idea of what it was that they were eating. They knew what was good to eat and what to avoid. Do you think school lunches are healthy for you or no? Allowing the principal to let us change the meals would lead to less healthy foods then they already are. Its a good thing to have healthier foods since they provide energy for the school day, allowing kids focused more on there works then there stomach growling. . The healthier the food you eat the less your stomach growls to disturb your thinking process or work ethic. Not eating as healthy could lead to energy lost.

Its main constituents: vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, beans, cereals, grains, fish, and unsaturated fats such as olive oil.
Its foundation is the pyramidof propper nutrition, with emphasis on the type of food and not on the quantity. In the base of the pyramid are the fruits and vegetables which should be eaten in large quantities. Next are the whole grains, which are preferable for 4 to 8 servings per day. As a protein source this diet recommends lean meat, fish and diary products in an amount of 3 to 7 servings per day. In the top of the pyramid there are presented in lower amount the fats and the sweets.
