: In Ayurveda Medoroga has been described since very early days in various samhitas. Madhav Nidan first time described medoroga as a separate disease. Medoroga (Staulya) is defined as that condition of body, where there is an excessive increase of fat and muscle tissue due to which, the buttocks, abdomen and breasts become pendulous and strength of the body is rendered disproportionate with its physical growth. Research Methodology:
All the 30 patients were kept on Vyoshadi Guggulu 2 gram divided doses, 500mg tablets, 2 tablets at morning & 2 at evening before meal with Koshana jal (Luke warm water). and diet restriction (pathyas).
Duration of treatment 60 days.
Observation and results:
In the age group of 40-60 yrs, maximum patients (87 %) were observed, from this we can say that in this age group people used to do irregularities in their dietetic as well as life style habits because of their busywork schedule, results into Obesity.
Maximum patients (63 %) were female, because they have a tendency to develop fatty mass.
Majority of the patients (60 %) were consuming Non Vegetarian diet, from this we can say that Non Vegetarian diet is one of the causative factors for Obesity.
Kapha-Pittaja Prakriti patients were observed more (33 %) because Kapha Prakruti persons are basically lazy and having Tamaguna predominantnature, hence they are prone to Obesity.
