Progression. What do love, hope, possibility, goodness, and individuality all have in common? The ability to integrate together and help humanity progress as a whole in a broad spectrum. For centuries, society has built its way of living around these essential concepts and life without them would simply be, dysfunctional. The word dystopian would be a perfect representation of this world without these fundamental concepts within existence. ` From the dawn of mankind, individuality and possibility have shaped the course of human history as it stands. Ranging from great scientists like Einstein to talented artists like Leonardo DaVinci, the world thrives off of individuality and hope for progression in our lives. Calvin O’Keefe and Meg shared a similar experience with the concepts of individuality and hope. As quoted in the book by Meg to Calvin, “Remember Mrs.Whatsit said your gift was communication and that was what she was giving you…, Can’t you try to get to him?” As it's shown, Meg hopes for Calvin to use his skilled communication to resuscitate Charles Wallace from his trance-like state. In this quoted phrase, Calvin’s distinguished communication skills could potentially save Charles Wallace from IT and its malevolent intentions. This displayed the individuality of Calvin as he used his most notable attribute to make a difference. The relationship between Meg and Charles Wallace was no different when put to the ultimate test in front of a deceiving evil. As quoted by Meg in Chapter 12, “I love you. Charles Wallace, you are my darling and my dear and the light of my life and the treasure of my heart. I love you. I love you. I love you...Then suddenly he was running, pelting, he was in her arms, he was shrieking with sobs”. When Meg was on Ixchel recovering from her most recent battle with the black thing, she had come to the realization that she must go back to Camazotz alone to hopefully salvage what was left of Charles Wallace from under the influence of IT. As she left Ixchel, Meg was informed that she possessed a power that IT did not. This power would be the key to defeating IT and all its wickedness. As Meg confronted IT and Charles Wallace for what felt like the final time, she realized that love was the separation factor between Meg and IT. IT was not capable of showing or giving love to anyone or anything. This is what prompted the constantly repeated phrase, “I love you”, from Meg to Charles Wallace. As Meg hoped for a miracle, Charles snapped out of his trance-like state and embraced Meg in an ocean worth of tears. IT had been defeated by a simple, yet such an influential concept. The universe of A Wrinkle In Time was now free of all evil, negativity and bad things because of two very

What if novels/poems/short stories did not have any emotion, relationship, morality, loss, choice or survival in them? There are six shared humanity categories: relationship, loss, survival, emotion, choice or morality. Most novels, short stories, and poems at least show one of the six shared humanity categories. Whatever a person reads there will always be a shared humanity category. “The Scarlet Ibis”, How I Live Now, and “Numbers Man” all show at least one of the six shared humanity categories.
“Oh! Simply by being a good son and friendly to his brothers a man can exert an influence upon government” (Document J). It is said in the quote that being respectful and positively influencing others is enough to make a beneficial impact within the
Free thinking is outlawed in these worlds where everyone belongs to a complacent society. By doing this, the main characters often struggle with not wanting to stand out rather than doing what they expect for themselves. In both of these texts, the protagonists face conflicts not only in the world but also in themselves.
A large amount of young people will hear McCandless’s story and become inspired. They become inspired to leave their homes, families, jobs, and money to go out and experience the world with just the clothes on their back. They do this to attempt a journey of self discovery. He inspires people to do things just as he did. The results were death and yet his story still encourages people to do as he did.
At times even to such a small heart comes the biggest feeling of love and joy in living if willing. Doyle claims inside each heart is a requirement at first to love. One fears to be vulnerable to pain, but ironically one also fears to be alone or abandoned. Doyle claims “ We
The Fault in our Stars Held prisoner by the cancer flooding her lungs with fluid Hazel has lost her ability to interact with people, Hazel is lost to her books and herself, feeling guilty. She is aware that there is nothing she did to cause the cancer but she only tries to decrease the pain she believes that she is somehow causing her family. She gives in to death and gives up rather than make a profound impact on the people around her. She begins to explain this as she narrates “Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed, presumably because I rarely left the house, spent quite a lot of time in bed, read the same book over and over, ate infrequently, and devoted quite a bit of my abundant free time thinking about death,” Green, p.78. She realizes that she spends precious time obsessing about death, she is wasting her life grieving about something she cannot control, predict or change.
He contributed in the helping of the country Geneva split from the Catholic Church . John Calvin contributed a simple, yet important idea to the Protestant Reformation: everyone's destiny is already predetermined and there was nothing anyone could do to change it. Calvin led Protestantism to incorporate itself into state affairs .
Though not always be noticed, quotes are used in everyday lives as a guide to making the right decision. “Faith is the sister of Justice” is a Latin proverb used in Madeleine L’Engle’s “A Wrinkle in Time”. This quote is an essential part of both who and what people are as individuals and societies. In this essay, the symbols of justice, different meanings of faith and justice to individuals and societies, and how the quote has a meaning of faith and justice working together will be stated. To begin with, the symbols of justice are together as a statue of a combination of Themis (the Greek Goddess of Justice and Law) and Justitia (the Roman goddess of Justice).
¨If we could´nt feel hate how would we know what love is¨, this is a quote I found interesting, it made me wonder what it would be like if there was only love, most of our worlds history would change because lets face it almost all of our history is war and
This is bad because Charles is a important person to Calvin and Meg. They try to break him free from its control. Calvin tries and almost gets through to Charles Wallace. It takes time until they break him free. The type of conflict that would be is person versus person.

While these emotions give people great happiness and attachment, these also can cause grief, sadness, and anguish. In the “Brave New World,” people have sexual relationships for pleasure, although they never have relationships with emotions as it is considered abnormal to feel an attachment or love for someone. Marriages and families are non-existent (Huxley 60). Scientific truth includes discoveries, the beauty of language and conclusions made from experiences. These truths are sacrificed for happiness.
