Gold Coast Melbourne Cup Guide
The Gold Coast may never sleep, but even our vibrant city enjoys a collective rest to focus on the race that stops the nation. The Melbourne Cup is more than just a horserace, it’s about the spectacle, the glamour, and the companionship (even when that companion is your slightly too tipsy workmate, cheering for the horse she bet against). Of course, you don’t have to be in Melbourne to appreciate the Cup; it’s a national phenomenon, to be run vicariously wherever you find yourself (don’t be scared, the exercise will do you good. Who knows, you might even win!). So, here’s your guide to the Four Fs of Gold Coast Melbourne Cup Day:

Exuding a relaxed, laidback charm, the venue houses a creative blend of food (Nutella and strawberry toasties. Enough said), coffee, alcohol. Best of all, you can enjoy your meal in a peacock chair. Sounds like a winner!
4. Balboa Italian
Expected later this month, the soon-to-be newcomer arrives from the culinary crew responsible for Avvia Cafe & Restaurant in Palm Beach. This time, their venture will be nestled on the Gold Coast Highway, serving homemade Italian classics (pasta and wood-fired pizza, anyone?), along with a stunning international wine list. Start boning up on your Italian, it’s not long until this inevitable hit opens.
5. Fish Lab by William Wu
Opening in late-October, Fish Lab by William Wu is an authentic seafood concept restaurant (although, it’s not underwater, so is it really that authentic?). Set to be one of the flagships venues of Robina’s new food precinct, Fish Lab will offer a variety of locally caught, cured, and cooked sea creatures for your dining pleasure. The twist? The restaurant will have a smoke room and an air-drying room. It’ll all be out in the open! Tip: admire the fish all you want, just don’t start a staring contest. Trust me, you can’t
The miners in the Eureka Stockade fought as hard as they could to change the gold licences to be fair. The Eureka Stockade shaped Australians colony, because we wouldn’t have as much democracy today. In the Eureka Stockade some of the key figures were John Humffray Basson, Peter Lalor, Timothy Hayes and Anastasia Hayes, with the miners. Robort Rede and Governer Hayes, with the Governor.
It wasn’t only the pools that they were forbidden to enter, they also weren’t allowed to enter the picture theatre, footy oval and RSL. Therefore, the Freedom Riders needed to help the Aboriginals to improve their rights. They did this by preventing anyone from entering by blocking the front entrance. After they protested, Charles Perkins discussed these problems with the police, pool managers and the local council. This was a success as the Council Law “That persons appearing to have Aboriginal blood be excluded from the bathe” was revoked.
171_kyle-busch-auto-interview_flashWith the success of Kyle Busch since returning from his injuries sustained during the Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona in February, many fans have wondered if NASCAR should give him a pass for the other half of the Chase for The Sprint Cup in which contingency rules state he must be in 30th place or higher in the points standings to qualify for the chase. In my own personal opinion, I believe that even though Busch will make it in the top 30, if he somehow does not, he should be given a waiver due to his win total (currently highest in Sprint Cup). The nature of his injury, being that it was sustained at a NASCAR sanctioned event, unlike 2013 when Tony Stewart missed the last portion of the season
Especially given she lit the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony and then became the face of the games. This ceremony celebrated both a century of women’s participation and the heritage of indigenous Australians. Not only was she representing 20 million expectant Australians but she also carried the historical burden of more than 200 years in the making. She was then selected as the embodiment of Aboriginal Australia’s quest for reconciliation. Cathy’s performance that night would carry almost as much significance off the track as it did on it.

The rebellion is looked upon today as a milestone in Australian history as it was apart of the struggle for democratic tights. It is also seen as a symbol of resistance. The Eureka Rebellion was the section in the Gold Rush when the miners had enough of the government’s laws and rebelled. This was seen as a turning point in Australian History. The miners recited this quote at the Eureka Stockade, “We swear by the Southern Cross to stand truly by each other and fight to defend our rights and liberties.”
Celebrating Australia day is like holding a party without inviting the hosts. While many Australians celebrate this holiday, they have little knowledge behind the events that occurred and why it is celebrated. If I’m honest, I haven’t been brought up, like many of my generation, to understand and acknowledge the events which occurred on this day. Instead for as long as I can remember I have seen the day as a public holiday where mum drags us to a boring family gathering, to play backyard cricket and observe the adults consume excessive amounts of alcoholic beverages. According to a poll conducted by Review Partners, much of the Australian population are unable to accurately name the event
The chilly winter of February isn't exactly a time for the excitement and jollity of Pride festivities for those in large cities in the Northern Hemisphere. Not if you're fortunate enough to be in Sydney. The sun-filled, end-of-summer skies provide the ideal backdrop for the city's acknowledgment of the progress of
Persuasive Speech Ah Australia. The land of opportunity. The land of freedom and equality. The land of wealth and good health. The lucky country.
Rodeo is one of the oldest sports to exist in the United States; with the first rodeo being held in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1872. Baseball is the only sport older than it. Today, many people and organizations are trying to shut down rodeo because they claim it is cruel to animals. The sport of rodeo is not cruel to animals through the care and treatment of the livestock and performance horses.
Change. It’s what many people fear. What would you do if something so familiar in your life was gone; changed forever? Changing the Australian flag would be taking away a piece of our country 's heritage. As Dame Quentin Bryce commented, "Our flag, and icon of our shared identity, is much loved, worn and flown by Australians here and across the world.
Imagine sitting on the bleachers cheering on the jockeys and their horses, but, multiple red flags are being set off. Thoroughbreds collapse on the ground from exhaustion and jockeys begin whipping the horses. This is no sport, this is a death run. Even the winners and losers do not matter in this “sport” when they stop bringing in the greens or receive an injury on the track.
so why is this day so important. Australia Day. What’s the first word that comes to mind? Is it fun or Invasion day? What does that mean to you?
Australia has a huge variety of festivals that are happening all the time a lot of which celebrate multiculturalism. Oktoberfest is a festival that celebrates an old German tradition where everyone comes together to drink, eat, dance, and overall have fun no matter where you 're from. It is open during lunch and dinner hours. Inside, there are many tables that sit around the restaurant and are covered in white tablecloth and has flowers placed in a clear vase. The walls are bright coloured that create a vibrant mood as people enjoy their meals with an almost inaudible music.
