Starting a new school every year or two is difficult for a teenager. Awkward situations can arise if you do not know a teacher, principle, or other faculty names. Moving in the middle of the school year can be even more challenging for a young teen. Other students may be ahead or behind the transferred student depending on the way the instructor teaches the class, causing the teen to adjust to where the other students are in their studies. These transitions cause the teen to feel like school is redundant and boring.
Depression may be explained by unhealthy cognitive processes, including distorted thinking and schemas. Those with depression often have many distortions surrounding their personal life. The distortions are demonstrated by depressed people emphasizing their own failure and being overly humble. (Beck, Rush, Shaw, & Emery, 1979). In addition to the augmented thinking, labelling cognitive processes as distorted thinking can lead one to believe that they themselves are at fault for the way their brain works.
People’s bodies can be greatly affected by a concussion. Concussions can affect people’s lives in many ways; one of them is mentally. Some examples are depression, anxiety, and mood swings. Clinical depression is a mood disorder that creates an consistent sense of melancholy or even a lost of interests that could vary from hobbies, family, and friends. Anxiety differs from depression because it is a mood disorder that is identified by excessive feelings of worry that translate into or has a major impact on a person’s daily life.

Substance abuse at an early age can affect brain development as a person gets older. Over time, the impact of drug abuse and the dependence can cause serious harm to almost every organ in the human body. Drug use can weaken the immune system, cause liver damage and even mental confusion.
Stress and excess worrying can be tough on the brain. When you are tense and your mind is over stimulated or distracted, one 's ability to remember can suffer. (Morgan n.p.). Stress only causes small amounts of damage to the brain’s memory functions but, long-term memory is still a possibility. (Spiers 1).
They begin to feel unwanted, unloved, and rejected which develops over time. Often when a child is physically abuse the effects are visible, however there are some cases when they aren’t. Whether the injuries are visible or unseen the child is still traumatized and tends to find a way to suppress the memories. Suppressing there sometime leads to psychological issues. As a student, many teenagers also have a lot going on with the changes that occur with puberty. With these natural changes juniors and seniors have to deal with school and the pressure of life as a growing young adult. In high school, senior year seems to be the most difficult for students of this generation. High school seniors can go though many things within the duration of a year that will eventually cause them stress.
