I believed this from my experience because just giving few hours from my routine to the residents of the nursing home, I took lot of good memories and positive experience for my new career. Service learning experience is a great way to learn psychology because it gives you a chance to observe when and how it develops throughout different age. I am thankful for this class for pushing me further to take the experience and making a difference in somebody’s life. Service learning gives you opportunity to learn about the work culture and help you to improve your personality. I am little shy person and interacting with someone is always challenging for me.
I worked directly with patients diagnosed with various psychiatric illnesses in groups designed to assist in rehabilitation and teaching activities of daily living. In these groups I helped with a wide range of activities such as assisting the patients with stimulating crafts, and encouraging them to participate in exercises and games, and answered questions related to the activities. Continuing my volunteer experience with occupational therapists I worked at Encore, an assisted living and rehabilitation setting. Here I worked with geriatric clients with both neurological and orthopedic impairments. I also spent time volunteering at Therapeutic and Recreational Riding Center, Inc. working with an occupational therapist in facilitating Hippotherapy to incorporate equine movement into treatment.
It was a valuable example of how an Occupational Therapist treats the whole person, including their psychological, emotional and even social needs. I was also grateful for the willingness of the therapists to give me a brief explanation of the patients condition, with their consent, and answer my questions after the
During the interview, Mr. R.A.M stated, “I have learned from my failures. We all made mistakes, but to learn from these mistakes and take it in a positive experience is life changing”. According to McKee (2012), Erikson states that the person who approaches death without fear has the forte called wisdom. He also states that healthy children will not have any fear in life if they see their elders show acceptances about the death and show no fear about dying. I believe we all should try to live our life to our fullest and work to find integrity within ourselves.
Evolution from Novice to a Beginning Professional Nurse Looking back when I started my nursing school, I can proudly say that I have evolved both physically and psychologically. I was not sure if nursing was the right choice for me at first because I had difficulties interacting with people outside my family circle. The first semester was challenging for me because I did not know how to interact with my class mates and felt isolated each time there is a class activity. I joined a study group later that semester and it has been an excitement ever since. Today, I am glad I choose nursing because I have overcome my social fears, learn to be a team player, learn how to prioritize and most importantly learned to manage stress.
I find that to be an exciting career to be in. that 's why I choose to become a PTA. I can learn so much as and PTA I can learn what expect and if iI want to keep working in this profession. To be a PTA you must have interpersonal skills . Physical therapist assistants and aides spend much of their time interacting with clients, their families, and other healthcare
Poverty in Waco has had such a huge impact on my life that I always find myself telling my friends to to take the course, or if nothing else, sign up for the poverty simulation. Through this class I have meet and made friends with awesome people such as Raul, Jalyn, Fred, Michael, Chloe, and Mackenzie. This semester, I have learned to much about myself and the world around me. I understand that as an American, and even more as a Christian, it is my godly duty aid another human in need. I can’t turn a blind eye anymore, as most people do, to the struggle that people are facing every where around me.

I applied past knowledge to fix it. Although that was something normal for me to do, my foster parents had the relief that I would actually care about the house. Before I arrived, Milagro wanted to stop being a foster mother because she had many bad experiences. Milagro my foster mother, is able to understand my pain and solitude, because she understands what
Volunteering in my school 's Special Education Department is one of the most reward service activities I 've ever done. As a junior, I do not have a first period class because of dual credit. I have the option of sleeping in, but instead of getting extra sleep, I spend my time aiding in our pre-vocational Special Ed program. Getting to help my peers that are in the program is extremely gratifying. My classmates that are in Special Ed often feel alienated and neglected by their peers without disabilities.
