Mentor Mentor is an experienced person in a company or educational institution who trains and counsels new employees or students(Oxford English Dictionary).Mentor help to promote personal and professional growth in an individual by sharing the knowledge and insights that they learned through the years.A mentor often has two primary functions,the career-related function which enhance the mentee’s professional performance and development as a coach and the psychosocial function which establishes the mentor as a role model and support system for the mentee. Zachary,Mentoring can be divided four distinguished phases process.The mentoring begins with the preparing and negotiating,followed by enabling and closing phase.At first,in the preparation phase,the both mentor and mentee must introduce and take time to know each other which provide them to identify points of connection.After that discuss what is mentoring then they could clarify what is expected and their roles.The crucial points in this phase is that determine and establish mentee’s overall goals so that they are able to work effectively in following phases.Secondly,while the mentoring agreement is being discussed make…show more content…
Conclusion Mentoring is considered as a developing relationship between two individuals.It carrying out several area including,companies and college even between individual as a friendship which is called informal relationship.Every career and mentorship is unique,therefore recognizing professional development through each mentorship can be highly beneficial.Mentoring relationship,however can quickly have difficulties if it were insufficient structure. Consequently,in order to perform it successfully,knowledge of Mentoring itself and understand what is mentoring and how it works before conducting is important for both individuals mentor and mentee as well
