Selena Gomez once said, "Having a good mentor saved her life." Some schools have a program tat pairs older students with younger students. The older students are available to assist the younger students. How would this program help both the older and the younger students? A program that pairs older students with younger students is helpful because it gives younger students a positive role model, teaches older students how to work with younger students, and it teaches both of them important life skills.
To begin with, a mentor program is helpful because it gives younger students a positive role model. 80% of younger kids are more likely to be successful with a older role model. Most people think this because ever kid need a role model in there life. It is even better when there older. For example, younger students look up to older students because they are wiser. Volunteering at elementary schools could help kids be more wise and lean more things in life. For instance, a couple months ago I went back to my elementary school to help teachers with their students. I made a lot of connections with the students and they look up to me a lot.

90% of teens go to programs so they can become better in life because they want little kids to do well in life, Most older kids get very inspired by younger kids. They make them want to do better in life and also think different about life. For example, older students look up to younger students because they want to be a better role model. Most younger students help older students do better in life and be better for their self. I look up to my younger cousins because if I do something I would not want them to do, I would remind myself to be a better role model and be a better person for them and
“Successful students had one or more teachers who were mentors and took a real interest in their aspirations, and they had an internship related to what they were learning in school” (Friedman 1). A mentor by definition is, an experienced and trusted advisor. Having a mentor can set people apart from one another. It’s more affective for a man to be a mentor to another man. Although many moms excel at teaching their boys character, some believe that females can only teach a male so much about being a man (Mentoring Younger Men).
Volunteering time at church and school have become a major part of what I do. The youth group I belong to at St. Thomas UCC collects items and put together hygiene bags for the YWCA. For school, I often volunteer to help with the bands, working in the kitchen for Indoor Drumline shows and helping to set up the Craft Show. I also assist my classmates if they request it. If a student is absent, I will take responsibility to send them notes they may have missed in class, and also what they homework is so they can attempt to do it.
Having a trusting and experienced adult around can drastically change the lives of our children. The benefits of mentoring are countless. Children will have someone to talk and confide in, they will experience a peak in their self a confidence and possibly build lifelong bonds that someone they know care. Many of the children that are bullied lack self-confidence, their self-esteem may become poor and they could possibly become withdrawn. The earlier a child becomes joined with a mentor, the earlier the steps towards a different future comes into play.
When my peers ask me how they can join the mentoring program in classes at the middle school I always tell them two things. Number one, its going to be the hardest thing you do this year. Then number two, don't give up ever. The students make it beyond difficult to teach them but when you and the teacher receive scores at the end of
Out of any good study should come many success stories and they are usually because someone did something right. This program started off with every 10 teenagers receiving a mentor. Those mentors could definitely be a part of the success. From personal experience I believe it is important to have someone older than you to guide you throughout life.
I love volunteering because even though you don't get money for helping someone, you get the joy and happiness of knowing you did something good for someone else. Being a member of Key Club and Junior Optimist I have the opportunity to volunteer frequently in the community and to the school. I have volunteered to work in various booths at the Glandorf Park Fest. I helped work at the YMCA Trunk or Treat to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. A group of my friends went over to Kalida to help with the Triathlon.
However mentoring can be done for just about any one that truly wants it. When I was in high school and I was having a difficult time applying for school and trying to get a handle on how to take the SAT I found Ms. Becki that mentored me. Helped me apply for school and helped me throughout the entire process and because of her I was able to pay it forward and help others in the same situation I was in.
Those two phases are focus on peer-to-peer mentoring and faculty to student mentoring. Messacar and Oreopoulous (2013) also suggested that mentoring programs for low-income or at-risk students might help to provide positive role models for students, such as administrators or educators. If students know that there is someone who has high expectations for them, they are more likely to be engaged and have lower rates of absenteeism and tardiness as well as increased rates of graduation. If James City public schools were able to create and follow through with some form of mentoring program for those students in need, perhaps they, too, would see their graduation rates
