The solution to overcoming this barrier would be cultural competence training. Cultural competence training has shown great promise at improving the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of health professionals when it comes to working with diverse populations (Mareno, 2014). I find that it would be good for every organization to establish a generalized diversity training for all staff to take. This training could discuss that its okay to ask a patient about their cultural and how we as a care provider could better meet their needs. This training could also discuss the topic of being self-aware.
The government should fund Planned Parenthood to keep protecting and improving reproductive health. Reproductive health implies that people are able to have a responsible, satisfying and safer sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so. Planned Parenthood helps those who might otherwise not get treatment, saving the lives of countless mothers and children.

My topic is the Lyndon B Johnson Civil Rights Act. I choose this topic because civil rights continue to be a relevant topic years after President Johnson signed the bill. This topic is relevant to taking a stand in history because a lot of people did not agree with Lyndon B. Johnson when he signed the bill, but he was passionate about giving black people the same rights as white people. The civil rights bill was a project years in the making, and after John F. Kennedy’s term, LBJ continued the fight for civil rights.

In our society, many people experience inequalities, including racial inequality, gender inequality, and economic inequality. These social inequalities create institutionalized social barricades that most times, cannot be solved without some sort of policy that advocates equity. Inequality means that people have little or unequal access to resources such as education, housing, health care, politics, and many more. It also means that people are treated unequally by society.
As previously described, the United States is the country that spends the most money in health care in the world. For example, just in the year 2008, it spent 16.2 percent of its gross domestic product on health- care (Gaydos 700). Through the population health model, investment and policy decisions in areas such as education, income transfer, civil rights, macroeconomics, employment, welfare, housing, and neighborhoods would have a significant effect on improving a population’s health than increasing the spending on medical services. (Jonas & Kovner 92). Through this model, there might not only be a decrease in what is spent by the country in health care services, but also an improvement in many other areas that would improve the economy of
