Approximately 100,000 children die of cancer before the age of 15 in the world every day. According to the Journal of American Medical Association, roughly 80% of children with cancer in high-income countries, such as the United States, survive. With that in mind, we must be thankful for the facilities we have close to home, such as Children’s Mercy Hospital. My mother has worked for Children’s Mercy for nine years, and it has been a huge blessing to hear about all of the wonderful things that Children’s Mercy does for our community. As a result of Children’s Mercy being a not for profit hospital, their funding must come from sources outside of their patients.
Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital’s sole determination is to provide ailing children of all ages with optimal medical care for any illness he may develop. Le Bonheur’s funding comes exclusively from fundraising and the donations of a vast number of individuals in the United States. Le Bonheur is a charitable hospital, therefore, the treatments in which the patients undergo are at no cost to the families. Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital relies on the goodness of people’s hearts to be able to provide the medical supplies and care children are in need of. In appreciation to contributable volunteers from around the country, Le Bonheur’s Children’s Hospital is able to provide children with the care that some families are not able to supply.
In 2007, I, along with a few of my peers, founded the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild as a way to give back to our community. Since then, this nonprofit organization has raised thousands of dollars that has gone to support uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Throughout my middle school and high school years, I have been very involved with this group. When I had the opportunity to choose a service placement for this year, I immediately knew I would be doing my service through the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild because of my previous involvement with the guild and my passion for the cause the guild supports. I believe that the cause the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild supports is very important, as although I have never had to undergo a

The Regina Geree’ Foundation for Adoption Agency is respectfully writing to request for support of $10,000, from the Life-Song for Orphans Foundation to support adoption agencies to connect children with families. The Regina Geree’ Foundation’s goal is to find loving families for each child that is waiting to be adopted in the foster care system. We are dedicated solely to finding permanent homes for more than 115,000 children in foster care. Our organization, established in 2012, in Detroit, Michigan, serves children waiting in the foster care system, from infants to young adults. We believe that no child should linger in foster care or leave the system at age 18 without a permanent family of his or her home; every child is adoptable.

Over the past year, working closely with local leaders in Mexico, Hands and Feet Ministries has helped care for the children and families at Nava School. Currently, we are praying for continued involvement from the community surrounding the small Christian school. God has already started to work on the hearts of the students parents. Every parent that has a child at Nava School recently signed a covenant stating that, among other things, they will be involved in their child 's education and provide a safe and wholesome environment for their children at home. After this covenant was made, the school 's parent teacher association doubled in size.

The best thing I had accomplishment in high school is doing my 200 over hours in the Mercy Medical Hospital. Doing this was a big accomplishment because I learned how to communicate with the people in the community and also I had also learned new things on how to take care of the patients their to make them feel comfortable while they where their. How I earned these hours was by going once a week and doing four hours and I help people locate where they need to go and I also go to the floors and help them get their things ready when they are about to get discharged. Also, when I was able to work on the weekend and during my breaks I had done eight hours each day I took the extra hours to show that I am capable that I wanna help the people
I volunteer at Children’s Medical Center in Plano where I learned the importance of teamwork and communication in a hospital environment. I volunteered as a child life specialist.I fed babies while parents got food, played video games with teenagers that had cancer, and provided drinks to children while they played with toys.I understood the toll and sacrifice families and patients made to get the help they needed.I learned that facial expressions, body language, and context clues were just as important as what the patient says in order to figure out patient’s needs. This further developed my knowledge of adolescent behavior in a hospital settings. My most fulfilling volunteer experience occurred during this past year when I was helping an elderly hospice Parkinson’s patient. He had moved to Texas to live with his son due to his progressive disease was wheelchair bound.I began to take him on weekly rides around the neighborhood where we would have long thoughtful discussions. It was a joy to know that with my help he was able to go outside to feel fresh breeze and sun on his face for the first time in many years.I loved knowing that I was making the end of this gentleman’s life a little better by just having a conversation and talking him for a ride.Even though I was able to see his health deteriorate before my eyes as he could less on his own as the days went on I
I am requesting this scholarship to help pursue my dream to become a registered nurse to be able to help and lead others. I want to be able to help people get well. Also to give premature babies a voice to be heard, and to be healthy to survive. I have always wanted to be a nurse ever since my twin and I were born at twenty-nine weeks in critical condition. We beat the odds and became two healthy baby girls.
Health and social care is something that I have always been passionate about. Because I have studied health and social care for the last four years I have regularly met a lot of the most vulnerable members of society through past work experiences. Through past placements I have worked with children who have special needs. This helped me develop ways of communicating with the children this could be through sign language. Because my Aunt is deaf I have taught myself basic sign language in order to communicate with her effectively.

I wanted to be a Pediatrician since I was 6 years old.
