1 Methodology
This chapter provides an overview on the research methodology used for this master thesis. It is divided into the explanation of the type of research design as well as the approach chosen, information on how data was collected, and how this data was then subsequently analyzed in order to derive conclusions.
For the present research study, I chose a qualitative research strategy. This derives from the fact, that qualitative research allows to conduct in-depth studies throughout a wide range of topics (Yin, 2011, p. 6). Furthermore, it allows to investigate and understand the context within which people live and behave (Myers, 2009, p. 5). Throughout my investigations on lean management I realized that one of the crucial aspects

24). According to Yin (2011, p. 307) a case study is:
“A study of a particular case or set of cases, describing or explaining the events of the case(s) […]. A case study may rely on quantitative or qualitative data (or both) but usually involves some field-based data.”
An important distinction within the case study methodology is to be made depending on the scope of it. The first type of case study focuses on teaching purposes and is therefore primarily used for the illustration of existing theories and concepts. The second type is the research case study. The attention is hereby on developing new theories or exploring and testing existing concepts (Myers, 2009, pp. 70-71). Moreover, the case study methodology is not merely applicable within qualitative research, but can also incorporate quantitative data (Yin, 2011, p.

Scope of Practice: Overall, Dr. Jaen’s main responsibility is to administer anesthesia to patients before surgery. Surgery includes a wide variety of procedures. Anesthesiologists even administer anesthesia to young children and neonatal patients prior to diagnostic tests such as MRIs. For intensive care patients, anesthesiologists are often responsible for ventilator and airway control. In addition, anesthesiologists have the authority to prescribe drugs to patients.
1. What are Stephanie’s current BMI and BMI-for-age percentile? How is her weight classified based on the recommendations? • Stephanie’s calculated BMI is 17.9. According to the CDC growth charts, she is in the 90th% BMI-for-age and the NICH classifies her as overweight (Brown et al., 2016).
Candidate Scott briefed an above average 5-paragraph order that contained the necessary information to execute the mission. Portions of the order were stated twice, wasting time that was needed for execution. For example, information about hitting the red area was briefed in both the scheme of maneuver and coordinating instructions. Regardless, the team members knew their specific tasks and they began to execute.

To begin with, the lean methodology is one that is applicable to all industries, regardless of the present systems and approaches towards management (Tsironis & Psychogios, 2016). Therefore, the major decision is to proceed with the implementation of the lean and other improvement processes, even though it should take different approaches. When considering the challenges noted, most of them emerge from the reactions and actions of the
Alicia Zalanka Case Study 2 Aug. 25, 2015 A-1: Revision of the Application Blank: Asking for information to give insights about the applicant’s personality would be difficult. Asking for hobbies, outside activities, and personal information is a great idea but would be tricky to execute in legal terms and would not be predicative. By asking some of the personal information that could lead to invasion of privacy by the employer and lead to legal issues, not to mention your hobbies have no affect on your job performance.
Case studies are often conducted in clinical medicine involving descriptive info about the person. For example, if a person was in the hospital for a particular reason that the doctor cannot yet identify, the patient may be asked a serious of questions about their health and activities to try and determine what is making them ill. The strength of performing a case study is that it allows a researcher to investigate a topic in much more detail than if they were dealing with large amounts of people. Case studies have been said to provide more of a realistic response than other types of methods. The weakness of a case study is that because only one person is being studied, there is only one viewpoint being contributed to the study.
Introduction Qualitative research are those kind of researches that an outcome is obtained without the application of statistical methods of data analysis (Strauss and Corbin, 1990 cited in Golafshani, 2003). However, the qualitative research takes a direct approach, where the researchers arrive at a conclusion through the observation of events as they occur naturally without external interferences (Golafshani, 2003). Ethical and methodological issues may arise, therefore in order to demonstrate the legitimacy of Qualitative research it is important to integrate rigour and trustworthiness. Potential ethical issues There is the need to take into consideration ethical issues that may arise from conducting qualitative researches.
Case management is a process that ensures that you are provided with whatever services you may need in a coordinated, effective, and efficient manner,FIntagliata, 1981 as cited in Frankel & Gelman (2012).Treatment is structured to ensure smooth transitions to the next level of care, avoid gaps in service, and respond rapidly to the threat of relapse. Assessment, planning, linkage, monitoring, and advocacy are the functions that comprise case management. Case management has 8 principles. The first is to offer you a single point of contact with the health and social services systems.
Narrative research theory is the study of how human beings experience the world, and narrative researchers compile these stories via in-depth interviews and write narratives about the experience (Gudmundsdottir, 2001). The data collected in narrative research can be qualitative, quantitative, or both. In my research proposal I mentioned in the methodology section that my study will be mostly qualitative in nature but in some cases there will be some quantitative data. I also mentioned that my research will be investigating the Hammonds Farm area, with the intention of investigating the impact of relocations on the livelihoods of beneficiaries that were relocated from Ocean-Drive to Hammonds Farm. Since the study I will be doing involves a case study, the narrative research theory seems the most logical direction as it corresponds with the purpose of my study.
According to Infants, Children, and Adolescents by Berk and Meyers stated that, “the method brings together a wide range of information on one child, including interviews, observations, and sometimes test scores.” An example of Case study is when a study is conducted to see the effects of a stressor, for instance, putting a sign on a bench that says wet paint. The case study can show how many people will disregard the sign and touch the bench to see if it is really wet. Then follow up with questions of why they decided to touch the bench. Doing case studies can be practical in allowing the teacher to observe, assess, and ask open-ended questions, to help determine if the student is reaching the foundational goals or a goals that are required by the state.
It is primarily a subject oriented approach. In other words, the applicability of methods is mostly focused on the subject. Using qualitative research methodology, the researcher strives to comprehend the broad spectrum. The focus is on analysing the large volumes of data in a scientific and empirical way. This analysis relies on a particular case study, journals, online surveys and others.
Competitive pricing pressure from a flooded market has forced significant consolidation and has shifted the landscape of the PC market and computer hardware industry. Some group of multinationals companies leads and have managed to maintained double-digit worldwide market share for several years. Specially in the Personal Computer industry, the two computers named as Dell and Hewlett-Packard- dominate the landscape. They have significantly more market share than their closest competitors (Microsoft, IBM, Sony, Fujitsu, Apple) on a global scale (34% of all PC shipments) and they account nearly half of domestic sales. A lot of these new shipments have reflected the demand for "volume servers" and enterprise servers, often a lower-end
1. Introduction – Importance of Principle of Management (PMG) – Relate with case study – Overview of the content Introduction The purpose of this section is to discuss the importance of management principles, and the impact on each organisation. Principles of management are generally termed as the act of planning, organising and controlling the operations of the basic element of people, materials, machines, methods, money and markets, providing direction and coordination, and giving leadership to human efforts, so as to achieve the sought objectives.
