Case Study #1
The first case study I chose was “Mexican Government Advises Migrants.” (United Nations Association, 2014). I feel that globalization has made changes in these people’s lives by them seeing the opportunities from a different country, better schools, and technology access that their own country does not have. These people are mostly poor and seek a safer place to live. They see the opportunities that exist for others that their own children can have. I do not necessarily believe that the Mexican government is condoning illegally crossing the border, but they do have that obligation of keeping their citizens safe. When Mexican families cross over and familiarize themselves in the environment, they do not lose a sense of who

and sending money back is also a conflict. It has been said, by the President of the United States, that taxes would be attached to the remittances or equally a payment for the new border wall. (Gillespie, 2017). With globalization spreading faster with the use of technology, it has become easier to send money anywhere in the world. In 2006, remittance to Mexico was at 25.5 billion dollars and in 2016 it was 27 billion dollars. Mexico’s finance minister, Enrique Nieto, says that remittances are a critical component for the economic growth in developing countries. (Gillespie, …show more content…
This study deals with jobs, mainly call center jobs that were outsourced to India from the United States being outsourced from India to places like the Philippines, Malaysia, and China.
Companies such as AT&T, Expedia, and JPMorgan Chase have hired call centers in the Philippines. (Not only have these jobs come from the U.S. but also from Europe. In this case, globalization changed many lives by bringing jobs to their country that were not readily available. The conflict of this change was that in India, English was spoken with a heavy accent which made many people in the U.S. angry. (I have called customer service, my cable company, and spoken to a person with an Indian accent. I do not have a problem with this because I know what it is like to speak another language and how hard they try to get it right. They are only
The Roaring Twenties are recognized for the increase in opportunities for different ethnic groups throughout California. Mexican immigrants are a particular ethnic group who have historically been marginalized by legislation and political rhetoric. Mexicans immigrants migrated to California with the intent of gaining economic opportunities. While the United States allowed for more economic opportunities to be attained, the treatment of Mexicans during the 1920s unveil inequity in labor policies and structures. The experiences of Mexican immigrants during the 1920s illustrate an increase in economic opportunity and the simultaneous susceptibility to exploitative systems of labor and discriminatory ideologies.
Mexicans are separated into two different groups, Mexicans and Mexican Americans. Mexican Americans are born in the United States from full or partial Mexican descent. Mexicans are full or partial Mexican descent, born in Mexico. Although the definition of each, are interpreted differently from person to person. History and present day have shown that both ethnic groups, for the most part, do not get along.
Hispanic Americans, or Latinos, are a very large and diverse ethnic group in the U.S. Altogether, they make up about 44 million people or 15% of America’s population. Individuals who make up this category can identify with various nationalities and backgrounds. However, the 2010 U.S Census – as stated in the textbook -- reported that 75% of its total Latino respondents identified being of Mexican, Puerto Rican, or Cuban origin. According to the lecture notes, 65% of Hispanics claim to be Mexican Americans, while 8.5% are Puerto Ricans and another 3.5% are Cuban Americans.
Integration of Young Hispanics in Our Community I truly believe that that the easiest way for young Hispanics to integrate themselves in the community is through mentoring, volunteer work and becoming proactive members in today’s political atmosphere in Houston. Mentoring for example can be one of the most rewarding activities that we can do and it could truly change a child’s life. The Girls and Boys club would be an excellent place to start if you were interested in mentoring or tutoring a child. The two or three hours a day that you spend time with these kids has the potential to change their lives, give them a different perspective on life, or give them something to aspire to in the future.
For my research paper, I plan to discuss the driving factors that attract Mexican immigrants to Los Angeles. Specifically, I want to argue that Mexican immigrants are the backbone of the industrial sector of Los Angeles. Their presence has transformed the city of Los Angeles and has helped the city economically. In my research, I want to look at the neighborhood of Vernon. Vernon itself is a very industrial area with massive companies and factories located there.
One of the toughest adjustments, having been born to Mexican parents, is migrating to an unknown country where traditions and languages differ from one 's own. Though many pursue an education and strive for a better life, the purpose behind an immigrant, like myself, differs from the typical American. Immigrants strive for a life that was once impossible, going to school is not only to attain an education, but to better prove that we can also become successful regardless of our traditions and skin color. I lived in a country for over fifteen years, fearing deportation, not only losing a home, but potentially saying goodbye to a bright future. Although many feel empathy for Mexican-Americans, it is undeniably difficult to truly comprehend the immense trauma children and even adults undergo upon experiencing racism and prejudice.
The migration of Hispanics to America differ from other groups who have migrated over the years. Mexicans made contact through conquest but the majority of immigrants came to the United States voluntarily. Hispanic Americans consist of several different migrant groups Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Mexicans and Dominicans. All of which have each dealt with prejudice and discrimination.
Immigration in the Us Parties in the US have been debating for a while now over the issue of illegal immigrants populations. There are up to 11 million of them and about 6.2 million are Mexican. There are two major solutions people have come up with. The president feels that since Mexicans are the have the more than 50% of the illegal population, that we should focus on them, Currently he is planning on building a wall around Mexico to increase border security there. There are a lot of opposition to this idea because people think its racist to the Mexicans.
Ten years ago, I immigrated to the United States and ever since I have been an undocumented immigrant. Due to my legal status in the United States, I felt like I was restricted from certain situations and possessions and would never be able to succeed. I was not living the normal life of a seven-year-old. Instead, I had to learn to cope and adapt to a whole new culture. Even though the drastic change at such a young age was a challenge, it has shaped who I am today.
Among the illegal immigrants currently living in the United States, continuously crossing the borders and remaining in the United Stated with expired visas each year. Unlawful immigration once an issue of border states such as Arizona or Texas is now impacting all states around the country with problems. Illegal immigration affects all aspects of civilization, from the cost of education, government assistance, and public safety. There is also the matter of when local law enforcement who make it a personal mission to seek out undocumented immigrant 's harassment demanding documents. Although the Federal Government has all authority over the regulating of migration into the United States, the State and local law enforcement and communities are an essential role in improving on the immigration law, and it is effectively enforced.
An immigrant family wants the best for everyone lives, however moving to a new country brings struggles. There struggles include finding a home, a good paying job, avoiding to be deported, being separated ,and continuing their education. Immigrants expect a better life because their old home and country did have much benefits as the new country gives them. The advantage of an immigrant family is family values which tends them to be closer. Disadvantages of an immigrant family are the struggles that were first mentioned and including that they face other people calling them a threat.
Mexican Culture: Customs and Traditions The Mexican culture is very diverse which has undergone many transformations over several decades and the culture varies widely throughout Mexico and the United States. I will be more focused on the other side of the border and express my findings about the Mexican culture in Mexico. According to woldatlas an online database, the majority of Mexicans live in cities like Mexico City with a population of 12 million Mexicans.
There are many challenges that immigrants face throughout their lives. Many immigrants are able to come to the U.S., but it is not easy as it seems. One challenge that immigrants go through is being able to have respect that the U.S. citizens have. Another challenge that immigrants face is being able to adapt to the new environment. People who arrive in the U.S. might not be able to speak English.
The evidence from Eastern European economics proves that they receive greatest benefit while comparing to Asia and Americas. Author also add that African countries can’t take benefits and do not have statistically significant impact of remittance on economic
Emigration, the act of such persons leaving their country and heading to a country of foreigners for different reasons. Immigration has never been an easy choice, but recently factors have made it easier. Immigrants, in my point of view, can be divided into two kinds, the first are people leaving their countries looking for a source of money and escaping the struggle of poverty, and the other kind are people looking for a peaceful life with no bombs damaging their hometowns every day, escaping wars and political persecutions looking for the freedom they have always been missing. I see that the immigration crisis nowadays is in its worst, as we can see, according to the UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency), there are 65.6 million displaced people worldwide,
