In this era of politics, social media has very high power and influence. Since our generation can’t seem to put down their phones or stop refreshing Facebook, many members of politics use their social media accounts to announce their opinions on certain topics. It could be said that the mass media has a “hold” over the political arena. Media can even “make or break” political careers or political parties. Thus, it becomes very important for political members to keep their social media accounts updated. But, in a recent interview he brushed off questions regarding the decision that liberals successfully placed a single-payer health care system proposal on the ballot for 2016. It is easy to write your opinions online and make yourself sound professional. One can say they have complex plans to fix the issues we face today, but actions have to speak louder than words. While researching about his opinions on certain issues, his website was the one place to always find the answer. On his website, he has a section just for his top priorities and goals. He is constantly tweeting or posting on facebook and his followers see it by liking or reblogging it. Recently, social media has become the number one resource to find out what a political leader believes in or not. It’s so much easier to just search on google what a person thinks, then actually putting in the effort to watch interviews and television broadcasts on a person. Social Media is definitely changing politics. Americans can become in direct contact with their senators and even the president by simply commenting or sending them a tweet. In the future, we might be doing everything on our computers and smartphones, including even possibly voting.
