The American election is coming to an end. Speeches are being made, the candidates are making their last try to convince people to vote for them to make them the president of America. The current president Barack Obama can’t be elected as a new president and therefore, needs to make sure that a new good president will take his place. His wife Michelle Obama held a speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, giving the Obama family’s opinion about who they want people to vote for. The focus in this essay is primarily on Michelle Obama’s speech, the sender, receiver and purpose of this speech. The receivers of the speech are everyone in America, because Michelle Obama is trying to convince people to vote for Hillary Clinton and not Donald Trump. The purpose of the speech is to convince people to vote for Hillary and not Donald Trump, because she is better for our children. She is steady, measured or well-informed and these qualities does not suit Trump. Michelle Obama used hidden references to Donald Trump through rebuttal. She incorporated his points of view and argued why it was wrong. To convince people Michelle use pathos and her own experiences with her children. When she is using experiences people can better relate to her and since she is using pathos, people will get emotional involved in her arguments too.
