Milo's Midday Adventure Milo kicked the stones as he walked home from school, a strange exuberance settling within him as they skidded along the pavement. He kicked again, but missed. Furrowing his eyebrows, he spoke aloud, "Really, saukerl, you think I'll let you go? Hmph!" He kicked harder and watched the stone fly a distance away. He jumped and whooped, the classic excitement of the twelve year old coloring the air. "I'm coming for you!" he yelled, and chased the stone. However, he stopped short. "Whoa." Apparently, the man realized it too and gave up fast enough. Milo hid behind a wall, as he watched the man retreat. On a hunch, Milo decided to follow him even though it went against every gut instinct that he had. The man went further down the alley, and stopped at a rundown building. Yes, the man was a kidnapper, and he, Milo, now had the responsibility of delivering them to safety. Powerful emotions are at play, but author David Fleming uses restraint to great advantage.” Some people may dislike The Saturday Boy because the plot is sad and gloomy, however, the plot contributes to the feeling of the characters and shows that losing someone is not easy.
