As we get older and enter middle-age, we go through a lot of different stages in our life. Things that we thought were important at one point I our lives, do not seem all that important. When I interviewed Jeff, one thing that he said was that he does not worry about any longer was having to try and impress others like he felt he had to when he was younger. There were things that were around him that were happening that were much larger than he was that mattered.

There is a lot of anxiety associated when first stepping into the classroom because of the technology aspect of it. When we were in school last, there were no computers or internet. The anxiety of how we are going to be perceived and if accepted by our peers. Jeff said he felt that every time there was a group project, he was always picked last and it was like that one kid back in grade school. I can absolutely relate to that feeling, for I have been in his shoes before time and time again. After all, who wants to get stuck with the old guy when you are twenty years old? Even in this class when we were picking who was going to be in groups, I noticed that everyone had already picked and I knew the drill; I would just wait and get in with whoever was left over. Once I have with students I other classes, they have had a chance to work with me and see that I am dependable and will do the work. This has been the case with a lot of older students where they can be counted on to show up for study groups, participate in their groups and get the work done that is needed. The work ethic from the older students is different and one reason that schools are targeting this sector of the population (Sloan-Seale & Kops, 2010). The Middle Ages was a period that lasted from about 500 to 1500(OI). There were kings and queens, nobles, knights, and peasants (Doc. 1). People were treated and respected differently according to their class(OI). There were special relationships and responsibilities that everyone had. In the Middle Ages feudalism affected people’s lives economically, socially, and politically.
The Medieval Ages were a time where many things like romance, art, music, poetry, disease and death all thrived. Everyone in this time period had a different point of view on it. Some thought it was a golden age, some thought it was an age of feudalism, and some also thought it was a dark age. Yes, this time may have had its ups, but it also had many, many downs. Its darkest times consisted of Barbarian invasions, death, and wars.

One third of the whole population in Europe died from the effects of the Dark Age. The Dark Ages started after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.
The Middle Ages was the time period after the fall of the Roman Empire around 500 CE to the 1350’s. During this time the Roman Catholic Church and the Pope held the most power throughout Europe, the priests often lived in a closed area inside the walls of the monasteries. “Schools were few. Illiteracy was widespread” (Background essay) because of this average person of this time was illiterate .and more than 85 percent of the population were farmers and peasants called serfs and they worked in an estate for the owner called the lord.
The Anglo-Saxons, descendants of three Germanic tribes, the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes, inhabited Great Britain in the 5th century. The Anglo-Saxon period ran from the 5th century to the time of the Norman Conquest in 1066, where they ruled over lands that are today part of England and Wales. During this period, those apart of Anglo-Saxon tribes spoke different dialects, which later became known as Old English. Because of various dialects, literature had developed, which was where the epic poem, Beowulf, came to be. During their time, the Anglo-Saxons valued many things, including poetry but most importantly there tie to their religion and loyalty to one another.
First-Generation Students to Academic Success Research shows that in the Washington post a reporter by the name of Linda Bank-Santali stated that over 4.5 Million First –Generation Students have enrolled in a post-secondary institution in the United States (Bank-Santali, 2015, para. ). Not all First –Generation College Students are all the same but many experience difficulty with four distinct domains 1) professional 2) financial 3) psychological 4) academic. First Generation Students have a lot on their plates and face many obstacles that keep them from succeeding in college. There are many Barriers that first generation students face such as Low-Income status, Lack of Motivation and Low-Self Esteem.
Something such as returning back to school was long gone and in my past goals. After a couple of years I never thought I would end up going back to school since everything that I wanted was going good and according to plan. However sometimes we are faced with tough situations where we must find other resources in order to improve and better ourselves. Going back to school was one of the most important and wise decisions that I have ever made. Finding well-qualified candidates for a job or career nowadays is a challenge, especially in the field that I am currently in; law enforcement.

The Kings and Queens were at the top, then the nobles, the knights, and last peasants and serfs(Doc. 1). Rome fell after the rulers that came in the next century, didn’t know how to deal with Rome’s growing problems and it’s giant empire, therefore Rome began to fall. There were many contributions to the fall of Rome. For example, trade was disrupted, there was limited space and they began to lack new sources of gold and silver. Some people may argue that the Age Of Faith and The Dark Ages are the best labels to describe the era between 500 and 1500 in Europe.
However, many don’t want to drop out from their studies; they want a better education and better jobs that will pay them well. Not to have to work in a job that pays them low wages and to top it off still have to pay the loan they applied for to stay in college. It’s an everyday struggle young people go through every year just to stay in college to get their education. In the book On the Frontier of Adulthood Frank F. Furstenberg state that “More youth are extending education, living at home longer, and moving haltingly, or stopping altogether, along the stepping stones of adulthood.” Young people not reaching their adulthood, and still living at home to pursue, there dream of going to college.
I myself am going back to school at the age of 35 with a family to care for. Things that I thought I knew are no longer true and I seem to have a learning curve that some of the younger students do not share.
But usually graduates from high school who were forced to do school in their childhood don’t want to continue after and don’t want to follow what
Growing up, for most people, going to college is not an option- its an expectation. In our society, going to college has become a fundamental part of our education, becoming an adult, and for most people just simply part of our lives. However, as people grow up and experience reality, the realization hits that college may not be as simple as once thought. As much as attending college is expected from the majority of young people, dropping out of college is not. Even with the idealization of the college experience, some students are forced to cut their education short due to a plethora of issues.
