Interview with Milagros
Milagros (Mila) is from Lima, Chorrillos, Peru. She grew up in a middle-class family. Her father was a business man and her mother stayed home with the children. She has several brothers and sisters. She grew up with many of the comforts of home like she has in the United States, unlike the poor section just outside of town. Coming from the middle-class Milan was expected to go to school. Primary school was from 8:00 until 6:00. Mila also went on to college where she became a nurse.
Mila’s favorite tradition is Carnavales which takes place in February. Elaborate costumes are worn during the carnival. One of the fun things that they do is to throw water on someone. It is to be expected that when walking down a

Mila said that when she was growing up she thought that everyone was Catholic. She said that everyone in the neighborhood went to Mass on Thursday. Most of their family traditions and philosophies are centered around the Catholic faith. They do not celebrate Halloween in Peru. She said that Dia de los Difuntos (Day of the Deceased because it is more respectful) is a huge tradition with folk music and folk art.
The traditional roles of the family were that the father went to work and the mother stayed home to tend to the children. Being Catholic, they did not use any birth control other than chance and therefore families tended to be large. The father was the head of the family. Also, Mila said that it was not unusual and to be expected, that elders of the family would live with you. At Mila’s house her grandfather lived with them for as long as she remembers. (Her grandmother was deceased.) Family units are close.
Her favorite holiday is Christmas, because it is during the summer! This was a very interesting twist. Imagining Christmas being in the summer when you are out of school and the weather is hot is a whole different

As we can see in the chapters before the family dynamics was completely different in a sense of being together all the time, doing chores and farming together. As the country started to develop more and more, families only saw each other after working a job from 9-5pm. As Divine states, “in factories and working offices family members rarely worked together”(Divine, page 449). The families were divided in a working class family as the city life progressed. For working class families this had to take a toll on children because in a natural setting children would be at school for most of the time while their parents worked.

My pregnant grandmother Petronila Machado gave birth to her baby son Cesar Obdulio Chavez Machado, who was named after his stepfather on December 10, 1953 in a small rural area known as San Pedro Arenales, Municipal of Chinameca, Departament of San Miguel in El Salvador. My father wasn’t born in a hospital. He was born in my grandmother’s home. Her home still exists today, and is the only adobe mud brick house in San Pedro Arenales. My father was always called Cesarito.
Her parents and sister were born in Peru and she was born in the United States. After living the majority of her adolescence in American she and her family were sent back to Peru because of the family 's status. She spoke of Peru as a foreign, unfamiliar land. Rightfully so, America was her and her families home. Many people fear the unknown.
The song was an enormous hit in the dance music and Latin Alternative worlds, and introduced the world to an artist who represented the Latino response to M.I.A. Maluca is 100% New York, raised on a steady diet of bachata, merengue and hip-hop. She raps with a Washington Heights twang or in furious Dominican Spanish, while wears platform shoes and nine-inch nails. First of all they are from Guatemala. Estevan and Esperanza are illegal immigrants staying with Mattie in the apartment above her tire shop to escape the horrible things they went through when in Guatemala. There were many hardships in their life, including their daughter Ismene being taking by the government in Guatemala because they did not give up the names of teachers on the teachers’ union. Due to this event Esperanza became very depressed and even tried to kill herself. Another reason they are not a traditional family is because of how they have to live.
The book talks about how men are the breadwinners of the family and that the females are the nurturing kind. For my family alone, it is mostly females and therefore they had to work hard to be the breadwinners. I have never seen them be the stay-at-home mom and take care of the children. For my family, the roles are equal. If it is a mom and a dad, they both work, they both clean, they both take care of the children and they both take care of the finances.
For my Erik Erikson interview, I interviewed James Strobl. James is my grandfather, he is 79 years old and is retired in Lawrence, Ks and Yuma, Az. My grandfather is originally from Red Cloud, Nebraska and went to college at University of Nebraska-Omaha. James was a Sergeant in the US army from 1960-1962. He loves watching old John Wayne cowboy movies, eating chocolate chip cookies, and spending time with his family.
In a family there are many different roles; there's the role of the mother, the father, the child, the grandparents, then there’s the brothers and sisters. Every single one of those roles has different responsibilities. The father, according to most of society, is supposed to be the breadwinner for the family. However, nowadays the mother is actually quite capable of being the breadwinner just as much of as the father. As they work to show their children what it is to be an adult they are teaching them as well on how to be an active member of society.

“Family” is a hard word to create a concrete definition for. If one were to ask three random people on the street, it is likely they will receive three completely different answers to defining a family. The textbook definition of family according to the etymology dictionary is: “Origin in early 15c. “servants of a household” from Latin familia “family servants, domestics collectively, the servants in a household.” The traditional dictionary describes family in a more narrow fashion stating, “a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.”
I believe that every family has their own roots, essence, uniqueness, beliefs and thoughts, some families have both parents, some just the mother, just the father, two mothers or two fathers, they might have an only child or two, or maybe 5 or even 10, therefore, those children start learning all these things from their family and surroundings, they ask questions, they imitate each other’s actions and are constantly learning and trying to catch as much information and experiences as possible. Children are growing fast, their parents are their role models, they learn mostly from them; parents have the tremendous job of forming good citizens that provide to society, healthy and happy beings that keep growing as humans in every stage of their
