In his autobiography, Black Boy, Richard Wright retells at several times how the poverty he was brought up in and the strict discipline and parenting he faced left him reluctant to challenge authority.

Kayla and I were accepted again the next year, along with another friend of ours. My second year was more enjoyable than my first, as I discovered I enjoyed singing to almost an obsessive liking. The longing of becoming a plastic surgeon had gone away in the two years, as I realized I had bigger dreams that involved being on stage, performing at award shows, or making music in a studio. As I grew older, I found I had more potential. There was no sense of attraction to do a “normal job;” I did not want a normal life that would have me doing the same thing every day.
The loss that comes 10 times a year when your dad or mom goes away for weeks at a time. They don’t get that no matter how many times they go away, the feeling of missing them never really does. In simple terms: it sucks. If their away for long enough, they miss their kids growing up, the day to day lives of their spouses, talking to their friends in person, having a nice bed to sleep on. This isn’t really a specific time of difficulty I’ve tried to leave behind, but it’s a difficult period of time that reoccurs many times in a year.
There is no set time as every person takes their own amount of time however there are short treatments which take 5 to 7 days and there are longer treatments which are 60 to 90 days. What are the long term consequences of alcoholism in terms of rehabilitation,personal wellbeing and social interaction? I will do what pleases God instead" This was not an easy task at all, it took a whole lot of thought provoking experiences for the campers to transform themselves, even if it was just for the one week. We had some very emotional nights at times after chapel, but that was a big reason why the campers didn 't want to leave on the last day. They had built such a strong bond with us CILTs and counselors that they couldn 't stop talking about us on their long drives back

These are people who will never really understand themselves until it’s too late and untill they come to an end in their lives. People don 't stand up to a cause until it 's too late.
I actually didn 't realize at that moment the benefits of this opportunity, and rather thought if this was worth it. We were inferred that it would take exactly a week to end the paper transactions and documents. After the transportation we took, and expenses on medical treatment which was a requirement, money became an easy prey. Days in which hunger was a problem, and regrets invaded my mind. Nights which created suspense and terror due to the fact that we were living among and island surrender of predators, in which the prey could of been anyone.
