Mistakes In The Film Pay It Forward

Nea’s journey seems solely based on saving her sister when in actuality she is trying to find excuses to avoid growing up. The tragic hero fabricates false dangers to compensate her desire to be needed by her sister who has moved on with her life. Nea feels abandoned becausen Sourdi matures while she remains a child. Ma and Sourdi remain connected with traditional customs that Nea simply cannot understand due to her exposure to American culture. Her over active imagination, anxiety, and aggression get her into trouble.

For example, Cole’s mother asks him to forgive her after all of the cruel things she has done to him. A mother is supposed to be protective of their children, and Cole’s mother was the complete opposite. It would’ve been hard for any person to forgive someone that did so many bad things to him, yet Cole did forgive her. In reality, the hardest person for Cole to forgive was himself. In order to forgive himself, he had to help the people he had hurt.

Amidst all the chaos surrounding the revolution, Satrapi shows how the biggest lost for a young girl was the loss of the boy she potentially liked. In an attempt to keep their daughter’s fear in check, her parents tried to convince her that “everyone who left [would] come back” (64). This gives many wonderful examples of how the world sees and treats those who have mental illnesses and lets one reflect on how a person with a physical illness would be treated completely differently. Within the story, Rose endures the first “step” of learning about her mental illness; she loses control of herself. Her mother is the one who immediately wants to step in and get her help, but her father is the exact opposite, he doesn’t believe that it is serious enough to get her help. When Rose actually ends up getting help, she is mistreated to the point where even her family notices; her family steps in to defend her, and the therapist decides that the session is over, which shows how he didn’t take them or her serious. After that event, she endures loss, which makes her breakdown; she is kicked out of the halfway house and gets sent home without medication.

The most noteworthy conflicts were balancing motherhood and her role as a political figure. For example, during her tenure as an activist, strangers and colleagues benefited from her affection, time and devotion. Whereas, her children did not and this ultimately negatively impacted her children's lives in their failed social relationships. Another role conflict that she experienced was her role as daughter-in-law and mother. Often, in public opinion Eleanor was branded as a bad mother, which was an unfair observation from outsiders which weren't privy to her authority being emasculated on a daily basis by her mother-in-law.

Initially, the story is a calm story of flashbacks but, by the end it shows the sacrifices a mother will do for her children, even if that means hurting herself in the process. In the story “The Leap,” Anna’s daughter tells the story of how her mother put all of her fear and pain behind to save her child. If the story of the death of Anna’s first husband and her unborn child is enough, the narrator adds in the story of when her mother saved her life, but brought back the pain and suffering of her past, before her second daughter. This story is a perfect example of the losses a mother will do to protect her child in the time of a disaster. Anna and her daughter moves people to realize how important their parents

Wilson, probably wasn’t meant to become deviant but seeing his brother and dad act in those ways influenced him. When they interviewed Wilsons, sister she said everyone compared Wilson and his brother and that made me think he of him being a secondary deviant. As far as Peagler, goes she did go through a rehabilitation process that included being an activist to other women, helping other people get their GED, and counseling. I don’t think she was a true deviant, and I think she should have released immediately. Violence, played a major role in Peagler life because she missed seeing her kids grow up, her family was stressed out over the situation, and because she was a victim of domestic violence she lost her life, mentally and later physically.

Esperanza is gaining confidence and slowly pushing away her poverty and society, she’s trying to find anything so she can be distracted away from her reality and that gives her an incentive to become a mature young lady. Esperanza is slowly growing up and she feels responsible now for herself and even her family. When she stands up for her sister “That’s right, I add before Lucy of Rachel can make fun of her” (50). This is a conspicuous symbol of her sophistication because she stood up for her sister Nenny. She feels responsible, pledged and she doesn’t want her sister to go the same way she went.

But once they move to Welch, we see a more neglectful and destructive parenting style. Both Rex and Rosemary start to ignore the kids, asking them to fend for themselves and each other. This leads to both Lori and Jeannette having to help and almost manage the other two children. But in the long run, this may not have been a bad idea because it strengthened both of their independence. More and more we see this, as the Walls parents put the children in bad situations, they struggle, but eventually fix the situation and learn valuable lessons.

For a long time, people have thought that rigid guidelines will be beneficial for a child because it helps shape them into their best self. Now, professionals are saying that unrealistic standards can have a negative effect on one’s child, instead of a positive effect. Throughout time, parental expectations have remained too intense, which result in detrimental effects on their child according to Romeo and Juliet, Shattering Glass, and modern day research. The parental standards in Romeo and Juliet are overly stressful for Romeo and Juliet to handle, causing the teenagers to suffer in various ways that lead up to their death at the end of the play. Juliet and Romeo’s parents expect them to loathe members from the opposing family, so when Romeo and Juliet fall in love, they react by defying their own families.

Kim 's mother told her that her father had a drinking problem and he was not the best fit for their family (Kim 's father still drinks heavly to this day). Kim states she had a postitive childchild. Her mother taughter her manners and to be responsiable; such as, right from wrong, to have respect for elders, and to treat others like you would want to be treated. She states that she was a happy child, expect when she would do something wrong. Her mother would used time outs

She chose to move away from her parents and live with her older sister and that decision she made was the main reason why she succeeded in life. In order for a person to learn, they have to either make mistakes or learn from others mistakes. Jeanette 's parents mistake was that they didn’t think about their future and they did whatever they could to survive their hardships. Similarly, Jeanette leaned from her parents mistakes that in order for her to be successful she needs to make a sacrifice and that sacrifice will lead her to a purposeful and a brighter future.
