The citizens trust America as a nation with a very bright vision to be even greater. The mistakes that we made in the past still haunts us today and I don’t wants us to repeat the mistakes and regrets again. I agree with Senate Cabot when he said “We have made mistakes in the past and we shall make in the future and fall short of our own best hopes” because this shows that we have made many mistakes again and again, we need to take a stand and stop. I also agree with senate cabot when he said “ it is well to remember that we are dealing with nations, everyone of which has a direct individual interest to serve, and there is grave danger in an unshared idealism” because it shows that nations will be hurt like Germany , think about what we will …show more content…
When he said, “ No country will never use their power against one another for aggression” but hey we already have seen what happened before the league of nations when Germany started the war and what makes you think that they will settle. I also know that you support Wilson when he said “ Countries will never resort to war without first having done one or other of two things”, But hey do you think that Germany will see to get permission to go to war after what we would have done to them, they won’t because if we join, we will destroy them and America’s hope too. One last thing that I feel I is bogus about what Wilson said is, “There is one thing that the hand to, and that is the truth of justice and of liberty and peace” because how will we know truth if America’s dream is lost when she doesn’t even have time for her people trying to protect others countries.
As I end my speech I want to remind you to vote to not join the League of Nations because I don’t want to put us in a situation which we can’t avoid. America has a vision and we need to reach it. America s seen as a leader by her people, we need to make decisions that will make America a true leader. America is on a journey to be greater so let’s just push her to be greater. I certainly assure you, make this decision and you won’t regret
On August 4th 1914 Britain declared war on Germany for violating Belgian neutrality. Australia as allies soon followed and sent troops who departed to Gallipoli in October 1914 along with troops from France, New Zealand and Britain. As the war continued the troops travelled to The Western front where 5,533 soldiers were seriously injured in only 24 hours, by the end of the year the list of casualties grew 40,000. In 1917, 76,836 soldiers were added to the list of casualties in battles in Bullecourt, Messines, and the four-month operation around Ypres, recognised as the battle of Passchendaele. For Australia, World War 1 remains the most damaging conflict in terms of deaths and casualties.
There were two major events that took place that sent the United States into WWI. Before these events took place, America wanted to stay neutral with thoughts and action. On May 7, 1915, a German submarine, called U-boats, torpedoed and sank a British passenger liner Lusitania. About 1,198 lives were lost including 128 Americans. Many Americans were shocked and anger about this act and called it “mass murder and piracy”(671).
When there is disagreement in different types of government, societies and government start to slowly fall apart in piece by piece. In WW1 Austria-Hungary had conflicts and disagreements with Serbia. A serbian killed a prince from Austria-Hungary. The serbian killer was Gavrilo Princip along with four other Serbs and a Bosniak. The purpose for the killing was to break off Austria-Hungary’s south slavs provinces so they could be combined into a yugoslavia.
We as Americans can say that we are proud of what we have fought for and achieved. Years ago, oppression of self law and liberties constrained us from being the free men and women we are today. Though we see good in the change, there must be order to the new chaos we have witnessed. We fought as a Union to gain this freedom, yet we act as distant siblings traveling in their own direction. This is why we must formulate a new government, a government for the people, by the people.
It is widely thought the only way somebody can truly learn from their mistakes is through correctional punishment. After WWI the Treaty of Versaille was used to punish Germany for the carnage it caused during WWI; however, the punishments dished out in the treaty set the stage for future conflict in Europe. The Treaty of Versaille set the stage for WWII by seizing German lands, limiting the size of Germany’s military, forcing Germany to pay large financial reparations, and placing the blame for WWI completely on Germany. The Treaty of Versailles seized several areas of Germany that produced goods that were vital to its economy. This contributed to Germany’s financial destruction post WWI.
When the speech states “We do not wish to fight her either with arms or with hostile arrangements of trade”, this shows how Wilson tries to turn away from war with his Fourteen Points and by using this type of rhetoric, the congress not only agrees with Wilson because his statements are logical, but also because it appeals to their
The United States of America has a rich history filled with success, failure, courage, and drive. Millions have come seeking the “American Dream” and to live in the land of the free. The past is what has shaped this nation’s present and future. Yet, as time drifts, the world around us changes. What was once deemed acceptable can now seem outdated in today’s society.
On March 20, 2003, one of the most controversial decisions in modern American history was made. George W. Bush sent American troops to invade Iraq in an attempt to remove dictator Saddam Hussein from power. Along with overthrowing Hussein, America would restructure the Iraqi government to align with both democratic principles and American ideologies. Bush justified the actions of his campaign by accusing Iraq of possessing weapons of mass destruction as well as being a threat to global security.
Wilson believed Article X was the “inevitable logical center of the whole system of . . . the League of Nations (Document B).” Wilson was taught from a young age not to “compromise with wrong (Bailey).” He saw the senators not only as being wrong, but as being “lesser intellects” and “pygmy-minded (Bailey).” This sense of superiority caused Wilson to underestimate the strength of the opposition and the legitimacy of their argument against Article X. He steadfastly refused to compromise on any aspect of the League of Nations, despite the Senate having concerns about Article X being unconstitutional (Document D).
WW1 is known as the first modern war because it saw the incorporation of mechanical weapons. The Central Powers and Allies both used a variety of weapons such as machine guns, chemical weapons , clothing, biplanes, artillery, tanks, grenades, and rifles. These weapons were state of the art for the early 20th century. These weapons caused casualties to skyrocket as the Allies and the Central Powers were in a stalemate.
The first MAAIN cause is militarism which basically means that the government has more money to spend on the military so they do and they think they are than the best. An example, can be Europe because they wasted a lot of money on their military and they wanted to go to war because they thought it will be quick and easy but it was the exact opposite. The second MAAIN cause is alliances which means that other nations have your back if you get attacked. An example can be France so if they got attacked Britain will have their back and support them.
My fellow Americans, I would like to thank you all for coming out today to listen to me speak on behalf of the future. America, the future is now. I want to strive in making a major impact on our country. Being President of the United States comes with a lot of responsibility. With all this responsibility, I want to make certain that America is the best it can be.
President Wilson also believed that “An overwhelming majority of the American people is in favor of the League of Nations.” The American public also had an influence, albeit a minor one, on the
WWI (1914-1918) was a disastrous conflict between two sides - the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. It resulted in the victory of the Allies. There were plenty of Central Powers weaknesses, the Schlieffen plan, weak allies of Germany and their hard economic situation at the end of the WWI. However, it was not only due to these weaknesses, Allied Powers had a few strengths, that made them won. The most important of these are : greater army, control of the sea and support of the USA since 1917, while Germany was already running out of supplies and soldiers.
Hitler made countless mistakes in World War 2. Some mistakes had little effect on the war’s outcome, whereas others caused major problems for Hitler and his Nazis. One costly mistake that Hitler made was invading the United Soviet Socialists Republic, also known as ‘Operation Barbarossa’. In the years leading up to the invasion, the USSR and Germany signed a political and economic pact for strategic purposes.
