To know the research gaps different studies were reviewed. These studies were elated to the present work in direct or indirect manner. A brief review of some of the relevant literature is as under: 2.1 INTERNATIONAL REVIEW Mathew et al. (2005) analyzed the use of banking technology in United Kingdom by ranking of importance of selected technology on consumer perception of service delivery performance and found that the importance-performance grid demonstrates two factors and their underlying attributes that fall into the “Keep up the good work” quadrant and the other two factors fall into the “Low priority” quadrant. A sample of a more than 600 current users of electronic banking provided opinions about their intention to use mobile banking, perception of relative advantage of the mobile device, perception of risk, social norm, ease of use and usefulness of the device for banking purpose. Usefulness, social norms and social risk, in this order, are the factors that that influence the intention to adopt mobile banking services the most. Ease of use has a stronger influence on female respondent than male, whereas relative advantage has a stronger effect on perception of usefulness on male customers. It is observed that majority of the respondents used ATM services than other services like branch transaction, tele-banking, online banking and mobile banking. People were willing to spend extra time and money to go to nearest ATM center carried out their transactions. In Axis bank, 100 percent of the respondents were aware of the mobile banking service. In SBI and PNB, more than 50 percent of the respondents were aware and in ICICI and IDBI, banks more than 50 percent of the respondents were not aware of the Mobile banking service offered by their respective banks. The awareness level in all the banks was very low. More than 50 percent of the respondents in ICICI, HDFC, HSBC, IDBI banks had not tried mobile banking services offered by their banks. But respondents of Citibank had tried the services more in comparison to other banks. Many people were willing to try mobile-banking services in future if banks provide them better security.
