However, where the achievements of the whole class matter more than the individual. Schuman shares her personal experience of teaching and dealing with different kinds of students in hope that her intended audience will learn a lesson of the importance of class participation. Her views are very instructive, truthful, and encouraging to all college students. After taking career connection I have learned more than I expected, during this class I have learned how to make a cover letter and resume which has landed me many interview opportunities, learning how to talk to employer through mock interview, learning how to preform elevator speeches and selling oneself to employers in a quick manner, and signing up for the Vandiver Center for Career Development Resources which allows me to see jobs made specifically for Queens students. The two key items that I find the most helpful from the career connections class was the cover letter and resume and the mock interview. I found these two to be the most useful things I learned because a cover letter and a resume are vital; they are what get what get your foot through the door and it is the first impression before the employer actually meets you. I found the mock interview helpful because it prepared me to think quickly and have
It would be important for myself as a teacher to help her stay on task. I can see her being very social, so one of those distractions may be who she sits by in class. I would hope to sit down with Charlotte to discuss what her goals were for the year as she seemed very smart and understood what she goes through on a daily basis. 3. Looking at Armstrong's Chapter 3, "The Joys of ADHD," find and type up a quote from the chapter that you really resonate with (that is, it has particular meaning or importance to you or affects you in a personal or emotional way).
The more you do something, the more you get better at it. The second skill that Gls has helped me with is my interview skills. If you guys recall we had an interview assignment not too long ago which I found really
I found that Dr. Klemm has an exceptionally clear voice when it comes to her lectures, and I would say that the volume of her voice is decent, although it would have helped if her voice was a notch louder (which is why I try to sit close to the teacher). Professor Klemm, nonetheless, is thorough when lecturing to her students, and provides visual aids such as: power point presentations, and video clips of the material. After the lecture, she provides time to ask questions regarding the material presented, and to also pair up into groups in order to further understand the material. I felt that as a result of Dr. Klemm’s clear voice, I was able to comprehend the material that was presented, and it made it very easy to take detailed notes, which were useful when it came to studying for my
My essay started with some questions,to grab an attention of the reader and I appeared fair-minded and morally likable as I talked for students benefit from the beginning, using ethos. After stating an opinion about this theme, my thesis statement is proved by using indicated meanings and reasons. In a second paragraph,I used the personal emotional example and unified it with others. Counter-argument is supported by real life examples and emotional experiences,to which I found a solution to prove that everything is solvable. Finally, I wrote a conclusion in simple but persuasive words, once again to influence the reader,in this case, the students.
Upon entering the course my expectations were surpassed, Dr. PHP was not an easy teacher but she was an effective teacher. Her lessons and explanations in class worked well for me especially in my writing. Giving us handouts dealing with grammatical errors like comma splices and giving us examples in class of how an outline should be written really helped out a lot. Another thing that
It was taken into account that the relationship did not establish only during the start of the session, rather the focus was on establishing a connection that lasted and strengthened toward the termination. In this mutual relationship, the client viewed her life and career in an ‘expert’ role. Additionally enhancing the relationship and engagement, the student was motivated and encouraged to narrate her life stories from past, current scenario, interests, desires, strengths, preferred career pathway and the ultimate future. Through story telling the student took the lead during the session and felt more connected and
I believe that Intellectual Perseverance is the trait that I would say I still have an opportunity for improvement. As mentioned above, I want results and I want them now. This course i 've had to read and read some of our text to understand some of the theories that were presented. It really makes you think so at times it has been a challenging to slow down and refresh.
STANDARD 1: THE TEACHER DEMONSTRATES APPLIED CONTENT KNOWLEDGE I feel that I have sufficient academic knowledge in math and every other subject to develop student knowledge and performance. Through experience with practicum I believe that I can communicate concepts, processes, and knowledge, as well as, connect content to life experiences. I feel like I could definitely improve in guiding students to understand content from various perspectives and in identifying and addressing students’ misconceptions of content.
It took time, to find the right format, research my questions on what the font or order of the content would be. It was interesting and fun to write a different type of writing style. I improved on Information Skills by that I learned what kind of sources professors/teachers love and what sources they dislike. I also learned that there is no harm in asking the teacher what kind of sources they suggest. This has proven to be helpful and decreased the amount of time I would have spent on researching for
For example, having assignments with mile stones spelled out and due dates, makes it much easier for me to hit deadlines. Instead of looking at my disadvantages weaknesses, I look at them as
As a DNP, beginning of the project I felt very alone, but as I connected to other disciplines outside of the department of nursing, my attitude keeps changing. This is due to all the outstanding encouragement and support that I have received throughout this project. Everyone wants each student to be successful meeting their goals. Learning Outcomes e. Discuss how participation in the practicum experiences discussed above relate/will assist you in meeting the learning outcomes you have identified for this course.
The presentations provided me a great learning experience for me to teach and share what I know in a classroom setting while getting feedback. I felt more at ease with my second workshop in regards to the transition process/pathway to graduate school, as I was sharing my personal experience mixed with that of the facts and figures that I had research to give students a clear understanding of the process. With my future goals of becoming an advisor at a Community College for a first year experience (FYE) program, I am glad to put on my resume that I have started to gain experience teaching, as teaching a college prep course are the duties of advisors in FYE
Walking into the Sangamon Juvenile on the following Monday I felt consumed with fear and anxiety. Both emotionally and physically I felt the crippling effects. However, it did not stop or deter me from reaching my goal. I forced myself inside as I pulled open the heavy steel door.
