Mockingjay was written by Suzanne Collins. The setting takes place in multiple locations such as the Panem, District 13, the Capitol, and a post-apocalyptic world. The story occurs over a course of multiple days. The title of this book refers to the theme of the mockingjay bird which was developed in the previous books. The main character is Katniss Everdeen. Katniss becomes identified with the Mockingjay. During this book she discovers her identity as a mockingjay. Many people refer to her as the Mockingjay just as often as they do her real name. “What they want for me is to truly take on the role they designed for me. The Symbol of the revolution. Peeta has a large amount of internal conflict after he is “high jacked” by the Capitol. He would constantly “Arguing with himself like he was two people.” Most of his strugglese is going through happen internally and he continues to try to discern what is real and what is not. However, Katniss continuously debates her role and is constantly questioning if she is being used and manipulated by the Capital. She also struggles with discerning her feeling for Peeta and Gale. The two major themes of Mockingjay are that people are not always who they seem to be, and sometimes we have to do what is right rather than doing what we desire to do. Katniss found herself in the middle of a war while using her influence to help other people. Sometimes our life is not our own and we have a duty to others. After reading this book I had mixed feeling on whether I liked or disliked it. I did not like how Gale died. Yes, he was the one who invented the bomb that killed Prim and many people feel he got his punishment but I do not think he should have died. However, I did like the part when Katniss said “make the games to avenge Prim.” Overall, I did enjoy reading most of this
Some of the main characters in the book are Katniss Everdeen, and Peeta Mellark. Katniss Everdeen was the one of the winners and the main character of all the books, she’s known as “the girl on fire”(Collins). And peeta mellark is Katniss's best friend in the games and somewhat boyfriend. While in the Capitol , Katniss realizes that her mockingjay pin that has been given to her by her friend Magde who has inherited it from her aunt Maysilee Donner, a form District 12 tribute who has lost her life in the 2nd Quarter Quill, been turned into a fashion trend " replicated on belt buckles, embroidered into silk lapels, even tattooed in intimate places"(78). Unknown to Katniss at this point , the mockingjay has also been taken as a symbol by the rebels who use it to identify themselves . Katniss and Peeta are once again thrown into the arena, but this time, the arena and its players are deadlier. Katniss changes a lot throughout the book. She becomes much more rebellious towards the capitol. After seeing an old man killed for nothing, Katniss gets angrier at the capitol. As the book goes on, she begins to say more and more bad things about the capitol.
The dominant theme in the novel is the control the Panem government has over their society. Early in the story, Katniss is being blackmailed by President Snow. Snow wants Katniss to demonstrate to the entire nation that a reckless act she committed was out of love and not out of rebellion. In order for Snow to force he says “[Gale] I can easily kill off if we don’t come to a happy resolution” (Collins, 23). Later on in the novel, Snow believes that Katniss has failed to convince the nation that she had no rebellious intentions, he alters the Hunger Games process to force Katniss to participate once again.

In Mockingjay, main character Katniss Everdeen finds herself benthe the ground living in District 13 after her district 12 home was destroyed by the Capitol. Along with this, Katniss's love and partner from the hunger games, Peeta Mellark, was captured and brainwashed by President Snow. Katniss decides to take on a role as the face of a rebellion formed by people of the districts to fight against the Capitol for a better way of life. Katniss becomes the mockingjay, originally leading this rebellion by shooting propos but later becomes a soldier in a huge war forged by the Capitol and the rebels that is eventually won by the rebels.
Katniss Everdeen is the main character of the story. Katniss Everdeen is one of the victors of the 74th Hunger Games. She is a fairly difficult character to describe. She is the Mockingjay for the rebellion. Peeta Mellark is the second victor of the 74th Hunger Games, in the beginning of the book he is a prisoner to the capitol but later on he is freed by the rebels.

This movie shows many examples of patterns of frequency, contrast, and also anomalies. One moment of intensity is when one of the girl’s that offers to help her gets murdered, which causes Katniss to lose a good friend and ally. This sparks an emotional breakdown for Katniss as she yells and cries at the death of this little girl that she had grown to know. Once she buries her, the girls family and friends back at her district spark a rebellion against the officers and government that run the place because of how they watched one of their own get murdered and at the kindness and trust that Katniss placed into this one girl. This is a very real moment, even though it is just a fictional movie.
